Lindersee

Description of lake:
Lindersee is a picturesque high-mountain lake situated at an altitude of 2051 meters, directly at the foot of Zirbitzkogel (2396 m), the highest peak of the Seetal or Lavanttal Alps. The lake is nestled in an idyllic mountain hollow beneath the northeastern ridge of the massif's dominant peak and, due to its hidden position, only becomes visible at the very last moment before arrival. In winter the lake freezes over completely and rapidly.
The surroundings of the lake, framed by grassy high-alpine expanses, boulders and dwarf pine, offer an ideal spot for a short or extended break.
A distinctive feature right on the lakeshore is the rescue container of the Austrian Mountain Rescue Service (ÖBRD). This prominent service and rescue station serves as an important logistical base for mountain rescuers during accidents or demanding winter operations in the Zirbitzkogel massif, while simultaneously reminding hikers of the unpredictability of high-alpine terrain.
