Description of mountain hut:
Stausee Mooserboden is a reservoir located at an altitude of 2,036 meters in the Glockner mountain group of the High Tauern. The dam consists of two parts, with the Höhenburg peak situated between them. The first part, Moosersperre, is 107 meters high and 494 meters long; the second part, Drossensperre, is 112 meters high and 357 meters long. Together, they contain roughly one million cubic meters of concrete. The lake has a capacity of 84.9 million cubic meters. Most of the water comes from the Pasterze Glacier below Grossglockner (Veliki Klek). Water from Stausee Margaritze, located near the glacier, flows via an 11.5 km-long tunnel connecting the two lakes. The dam was built from 1947 to 1955. It is also possible to reach the dam by a combination of bus transport and an inclined elevator.
