Description of mountain:
Sella del Diavolo (translated: Devil's Saddle) is a hill southeast of Cagliari (Sardinia) and a symbol of the city. The hill rises above the 7-kilometer Poetto beach. The starting point can be reached by public city transport.
The name comes from a legend whose story goes like this... One day, the devil was so captivated by the beauty of the Cagliari bay that he claimed it for himself. God did not allow this and sent his angels into battle under the command of the archangel Michael. In the battle that took place in the sky above the bay, according to one version of the legend, Michael knocked Lucifer from his horse, causing the saddle to fall into the bay and form the characteristic hill. According to another version, the devil fell onto the cliffs, giving the hill its distinctive shape. The sea below the hill has been called Angel Bay ever since.
