Description of mountain:
Sveta Trojica is a distinctly panoramic 1106-meter peak located southwest of the Javorniki. From the summit, where a beautifully restored historic Church of the Holy Trinity stands, a fine view opens across the Notranjsko and Pivško hills, with the rolling Javorniki peaks prominent nearby. In clear weather the vista extends exceptionally far: between Vremščica and Nanos the Italian Dolomites are visible, slightly to the right the Julian Alps appear with their highest peak Triglav, and to the north the horizon is closed by the Karavanke.
In Slovenian cultural heritage Sveta Trojica is also closely linked to the legendary folk hero Martin Krpan, who, according to tradition, carried English salt with his faithful flintlock along these mysterious paths and through the villages beneath the hill.
IMPORTANT WARNING FOR THE JERŠIČE (POSTOJNA) ROUTE: The marked mountain path from the Jeršiče (Postojna) trailhead across the Poček military training area is PERMANENTLY CLOSED and officially discontinued! Crossing this zone is life-threatening because it overlaps with the central Slovenian Army training ground and target areas. There is a constant risk of live heavy-weapon fire and unexploded ordnance (UXO) in the ground. Markings on this section are no longer maintained, the path is heavily overgrown, and entry into the training area is legally prohibited and punishable.
