Description of mountain hut:
The Wiener Neustädter Hütte mountain hut lies below the west wall of Zugspitze at 2,213 meters. It offers fine views mainly of the walls of nearby peaks, with a particularly nice vista north toward Lake Eibsee. The hut is situated directly beneath the cable car to Zugspitze. Built in 1884, it is usually open from late June to early October.
