The saddle is located 5 km east-northeast from the center of Fontanella and 6 km south from the center of Au and 0.2 km southeast of peak Wildes Gräshorn. The nearest mountain hut is Bergkristallhütte, located 3km north-northeast. Closer is bivouac Untere Buchen, which is located 2km to the south-southwest. South of the saddle is the valley Great Walser Valley.
