The saddle is located in country Italy 0.2 km east-southeast of peak Innerer Bärenbartkogel - Cima Barba d'Orso di Dentro near the border with Austria. The nearest mountain hut is Weißkugelhütte - Rifugio Pio XI alla Palla Bianca, located 3km north-northwest. A little further is bivouac Holzer Hütte. 1.0 km south from the saddle there is glacier Matscher Ferner - Ghiacciaio di Mazia, 1.4 km east from the saddle there is also glacier Hintereisferner. The saddle is located northeast of the valley Matscher Tal.
