Gamsegg is 2760 meter high peak and is part of the National Park Stelvio. The peak is located 1.2 km north-northwest of peak Croda di Cengels - Tschenglser Hochwand. The nearest mountain hut is Düsseldorfer Hütte (Zaytalhütte) - Rifugio Serristori, located 3km south. A little further is Gampenalm - Malga Gampen. 3 km southeast from the summit there is glacier Ofenwandferner/Vedretta del Forno, 6 km south-southeast from the summit there is also glacier Rosimferner - Vedretta di Rosim. East of the summit is the valley Laaser Tal - Valle di Laasa.
