Hinterer Brunnenkogel is 3325 meter high peak and is part of the Stubai Alps. The peak is located 7 km east from the center of Gries and 9 km south-southwest from the center of Praxmar and 2 km north-northwest of peak Schrandele. The nearest mountain hut is Winnebachseehütte, located 4km west-northwest. A little further is bivouac Felsvorsprung. 0.9 km west from the summit there is glacier Längentaler Ferner, 1.9 km south-southeast from the summit there is also glacier Verborgen-Berg-Ferner.
