Hoher Karkopf is 2686 meter high peak and is part of the Ötztal Alps. The peak is located 5 km south-southwest from the center of Sautens and 5 km west from the center of Tumpen. The nearest mountain hut is Erlanger Hütte, located 3km south. Closer is bivouac Forchheimer Biwakschachtel, which is located 1.5km to the west. 5 km northeast of the peak there is lake Piburger See. The peak is located in the valley Oberinntal.
