Ranzkofel is 1765 meter high peak and is part of the Gailtal Alps. The peak is located 3 km west of peak Reißkofel and zahodno-jugozahodno above the mountain pasture Ochsenschluchtalm. The nearest mountain hut is Jaukenalm, located 3km west-northwest. Closer is bivouac Reisskofel-Biwak, which is located 1.7km to the east. Southwest of the summit is the valley Kronhofgraben.
