Rogaška Slatina - Sv. Areh (Vonarje)

Access to starting point:
We drive to Rogaška Slatina and then park in the parking lot by the railway station.
The starting point can also be reached by train.

Route description:
At the starting point there are red hiking direction signs, we follow the signs for Sveta Ema, where we first carefully cross the main road, then continue in the same direction and proceed along the footpath that leads us past a mighty tree and along the left side of older buildings. Behind the houses we reach the next road, cross it and continue further westwards, soon the marked path splits.
We continue left (straight to Mestinje) and begin to ascend more steeply, at the nearby junction we go right and ascend even more steeply. An ascent follows via the right serpentine, higher we go left, a little higher in front of the nearby house we arrive at an interesting chapel. Behind the chapel we leave the forest, the path leads us past some houses, then we ascend with beautiful views to the logbook box for Prnek.
We bypass the transmitters on the left side and continue the ascent on a less visible trail that leads us across the grassy slope, a little further we bypass some houses on the right side, behind them we reach another road.
Several small junctions follow where we keep slightly left, we then descend in a few minutes to the church of sv. Trojice.
We bypass the church on the right side, from the junction behind the church we go right, then immediately left following the signs for Brestovec, Kamence, Nimno and Vinec, where we continue to follow the markings.
Further on there are several ascents and descents and junctions where we follow the markings, the path leads us through villages with occasional beautiful views.
We follow the marked path to the junction in the settlement Vidovica, where the signs for the church of sv. Vida and the church of sv. Areha direct us left, steeply upwards (the lower marked road leads towards the church of sv. Eme).
A short steep ascent follows and we arrive at the church of sv. Vida.
We bypass the church on the right side, then continue easily along the asphalt road to a smaller junction, from which we head onto the middle road, which steeply ascends for a few minutes and brings us to a hamlet of a few houses. A short descent follows and with beautiful views we arrive at the church of sv. Areha, which is located on the right side of the road.
