But really, [aren't you going] to no mountain during this virus crisis?

Exceptional morning hike to Matajur today. As always beautiful and rewarding tour...

Here, this last year's windbreaker, or hiking jacket is some Red thing. Excellent stuff.

McKinley is personally quite successful for me. Specifically for mountains I have their hiking pants which are spot on. Robust, especially warm wow. Also their parka and softshell, but use them more as casual everyday wear. For mountains a bit too heavy and too warm, or poor breathability.

But last year bought their super windbreaker lined with down. Thin but super warm. When too hot I quickly stuff it into ball and throw in backpack.

Once again, McKinley for my taste perfect brand for everyday wear, for mountaineering maybe a bit less. Personally buy some piece every year, wear to unrecognizable, then still great for various jobs, chopping wood etc.

On New Year's Day a walk to Matajur from Avs. Along the old path over Srednji and Mrzli Vrh to the ever popular Matajur. More than a super day for a hike, the peak offered really nice views all around. And it was warm, even a bit too muchnasmeh

Nice Sunday morning and forenoon on Krn. Kitschy warm, good that at least on the top and below it blew a bit to cool the person somewhat. Quite a few hikers.

Finally time again to visit the hills, after too many months of stagnation. From Avs past Idrijska planina to the top of Matajur, where only one mountaineer was enjoying it when I arrived. On the return along the same path I met quite a few mountaineers. Views towards Friuli or Trieste a shade nicer than to the Slovenian Alps. Weather warm.

Hehe. What does that mean more precisely? Can you still get solid stuff? Not asking only for gojzarje, but also for low hiking footwear...

One more thing I need to ask. Is there an Alpina factory outlet in Žiri, or can you buy their footwear there on the spot at better prices? Thanks

On Sunday Matajur invited me on the first hike of this year. To the summit via the old path and windy Mrzli and Srednji vrh. Back the same way, this time I skipped the old mountain path. Little snow, nothing frozen, so you can reach the top without problems. Nice Sunday weather attracted a lot of local and Italian hikers to Matajur. Views were great!

Thanks for the answers. Hmm, interesting.zmeden Can you tell me what the usual frequency of using these boots was that they wore out so fast? Because in my case I think there's no chance that will happen, since I don't hike that often.

I had Alpina Tibet, still have them. It's about 5 years since I bought them, still kinda alive. Not so much for mountains anymore, started using them for various jobs, a bit dirty with emulsion and liquids. For physical work, good for another two yearsvelik Very satisfied with them, when the boot softens and breaks in, pure poetry. This summer got Lhotse model, should last many years depending on use. Three hikes so far. What are your experiences with this model? As high mountain boot, not optimal for summer light 1500m hike, deciding on another pair for summer. Between Tibet and Nepal. The latter tempts me a bit, sturdier and more robust than Tibet. Your opinions and recommendations for this model? Suitable for around 2000m heights and easy walking mountain tours? How about the sole of this boot or sole flexibility?

The last day of the past year had to be used properly. So the decision for the ascent to Krn with good weather forecast wasn't difficult. Start from Planina Kuhinja in the dark with headlamp lighting the path. On Planina Zaslap it was no longer needed, nor gloves and hat; the body was more than warmed up. On top of Krn before 9:00 it was 0 degrees Celsius and light wind. After about ten minutes of 'meditation' and enjoyment, descent to Škrbina and from there in short sleeves back to the parking lot. On the descent I finally met quite a few hikers; the parking lot was more than decently filled on arrival. Yeah, for info, the parking lot at Kuhinja is now nicely arranged and enlarged, great addition.

On Sunday after a few weeks' strike finally revisited the hills, I hopped to Matajur. I climbed it via my favorite mountain path starting at the beginning of Avse by the former parking lot. To the summit I needed well under 2 hours, as this time I barely stopped or (almost) didn't bother with photography. At the 'junction' of the Venetian and Slovenian paths I chose the latter. Back via the Venetian path, over Mrzli and Srednji vrh and the old path to the parking lot. Temperatures were high on top, wherever the view reached only the whiteness of clouds. Really excellent scenes.

Yesterday's wonderful day had to be used for a more serious tour. At 7.30 start and to planina Kuhinja, very few cars yet. Parking lot closed as they are renovating and expanding access. Just after 10.00 on Krn summit, relaxed walk with photo stops, from first sun contact in short-sleeved t-shirt, because hot as hell. That was the only 'minus' of yesterday's hike.nasmeh Since I wanted more walking I went to Batognica and Peski and to the lake in Lužnica. Super walk! Then descent to planina Pretovč. The mentioned descent tired me a bit and properly roughed up my legs and especially ankles. You can see I haven't been in high mountains for a while, hehe.velik nasmeh Well, legs are completely OK today anyway! Plenty of hikers, all paths and peaks teeming with increased visitors. Upon arrival at the car the improvised parking was filled to the last corner, Italians, Austrians, as for Slovenian plates almost none missing.

Wonderful day, wonderful tour!
