This thread is the disgrace of this forum. You're covering each other with some insults regarding where who is employed, what car who drives, and some "would" assumptions.

How similar this is, mildly put, to my childhood. So much that it hurts. From the father's side conditioning, norms, obligations in a sport that didn't make me happy. And what distress a child feels who just wants to please such a parent. And for a while it still goes, until it makes you want to puke, and then a bit longer. After stopping that sport, rejection. Now, grown up, I struggle with depressive disorder, unresolved relationship with father will stay like that because of his death, and some things maybe couldn't be fixed that way. As someone wrote - take the child for pizza if he's not into your mountains and accept him without conditions, that can be his whole world. Please, think about it.

You might also want to start at the lower cable car station and ascend to the upper station by foot in, say 1h - 1,5h. From there you can continue, as mentioned above, towards Areh (another 1,5 - 2h), from there you can go further in the direction of Osankarica (some 2-2,5h) with the beautiful lake "Črno jezero" nearby or Klopni vrh, with a possible stop at waterfall "Slap Šumik" in both cases. From there on, there's Pesek, Ribniško Pohorje,... but that's too far for one day. I think it's a whole lot if you go as far as Osankarica or Klopni vrh and then back. At each of these points there's a hut. You can use the macadam roads or the hiking paths, in which case you should buy a map. Or you could of course drive to one of these points and hike more into the western part (for example "Lovrenška jezera" lakes are an interesting thing). Another interesting hike would be on Kozjak, which is known for its beautiful ridges with lonely farms. You can get a lot of information about these at the TIC (tourist information centre).

Last year the same happened to me on this route. If it's the same spot, then the path turns sharply left there (somewhere at the start of the secured section), if not paying attention it seems to go straight into the gully. The path turns left before the cable ends, its end is attached at least 2m further, so if you follow it, it takes you straight into the gully.
That's the part when (if you turn correctly sharply left) after a few meters behind the right bend you spot the cut-off steep slopes on the left side.
