Ideal tour in the snow. The ascent isn't difficult at all. Most hikers who go along the path behind Lužnica continue towards Vrh nad Peski and Batognica. We usually set off in the snow from Planina Kuhinja over Leskovec. When conditions don't allow going further, Maselnik is a good choice. That's how it was yesterday, 19.01.2026. It was trodden to the top. But strong wind was forecast. The weather forecasters didn't err. Already at the parking lot on Planina Kuhinja it was minus 7 degrees. The day was without clouds. There's quite some snow back there. Conditions further were good, but due to the strong wind we didn't decide to proceed. We stopped a few times and waited for the wind gust to pass. We were the only visitors. It looks like Krn also had no visitors yesterday.

15.11. 2024. This year November is gorgeous. We didn't even think we'd stand on both Babanski Skedenjs in a week's time. Around eight in the morning we set off from Žaga. Steeply uphill. Higher up we viewed the Boka waterfall. Continued to planina Baban. Then along the path through the forest. All the way to the junction for Veliki Babanski Skedenj. We chose the right approach to the summit. Descended the left side and reached the familiar little path lower down. Or rather, a mule track. Below the summit there's some scrambling among rocks. At the summit it's quite precipitous on both sides. Views really wonderful. When clarity persists. And it wasn't cold either. Just below the summit in the grass we stopped for a good hour. For descent we went past planina Ognjenik and then the steep path that the trail markers recently renewed the markings on, as it's a hiking path, arrived back at starting point in Žaga still in daylight. Didn't meet almost anyone. Less than 1700m ascent and 12-odd km walk. A tour that'll stay in our fond memory. Just like a few days ago when we were around here.

Just yesterday I wore low Alpina shoes to Nanos. I bought them not long ago. I'd already worn them on a few hikes before. Even in snow. No complaints so far. I think before this discount they were 75 euros with discount. Just yesterday I saw the full price of these at 119 euros. Minus 50 is a pretty good price. They're consumables anyway.

Everything is changeable, because there simply is no basis on which the processes could be held back. Each of us lives their own time, their own world in it, and even that changes relentlessly. (A.G) At least there was no crowd on the path. Only one female hiker went the steep path. On the descent, the weather clouded over. Such a path is also really nice. Razdrto - to Vetranca. Descent along a gentle path.

I don't know if it's the right one - maybe Trentski Pec, if it's in those parts?

Plešivec from Bavšica 9.05.2026. Saturday hike. Have as your only goal to put down the backpack of unfreedom, everything else will be given to you. We went as usual after seven in the morning. Into the dewy grass. I expected more dew, but there wasn't any. I didn't know the conditions. Snow is melting these days. I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw that it had melted on the slope below Brežič saddle. On Prevala a large snowfield remained, but it causes no problems. View from the saddle towards Loška Koritnica, as usual this time of year, still has a lot of snow. The little path is also in snow. Therefore I decide we go over the first little peak. Which is bare. And we descend to the path. We bypass those few snowfields without trouble. To the top it's bare. We saw quite a few chamois. A female chamois, looked like an older one, stopped and watched Maks for a while. Then she went after the others. At the top we were a bit after eleven. It showed that he was urging me on when he heard the marmots further ahead from Prevala. He hurried too much uphill. Maybe he was in a hurry to the top. Because this year he hasn't been on a two-thousander yet On descent I used the ice axe in that short section where we went over the little peak. I stopped a bit at the saddle and went down the ascent path to the valley. Both satisfied.

Quite a bit of it is visible. Today I checked out Pelce, Pihavce and that path to Nizki vrh. A lot of snow was visible.

From afar what we saw last year from the bivouac didn't look exactly innocent. Especially that scree slope. When you're there you see. Thanks to all three.

I meant from Loška Koritnica : to the bivouac. Up to there I know it. For further on, I'm more interested in not dragging protection with me. Not Martina yet now. When it'll be dry. It'll be soon.

I'm wondering what equipment is needed - belays from Tarvizo bivouac to Vevnica? Descent by the same route.

2.05.2026. Actually, all of nature is built so perfectly that every event conveys its correctness or incorrectness through its fruits. But whoever wants to remain blind cannot be forced to see, and that's right. (A.G) As usual, we went from Tolminske Ravne past the Kal pasture. There were cavers setting off to explore the underground. We continued towards the saddle between Tolminski Kuk and Migovec. We knew there was still some snow patches higher up on the path. Where we once turned back. Before that, an encounter with a viper waiting on the path for sun rays to warm up. I haven't photographed a snake so close yet. We said goodbye to it and continued. If we had known, but we learned at the saddle on the return that the snowfield can be bypassed. Someone even built a cairn showing where to go. The snow was hard as concrete in the morning. We put on crampons and crossed it. On the descent, we bypassed it and didn't need to put crampons on up there. Beyond the saddle, there was only a little snow. Very pleasant walking. All the way to the summit. It was a bit windy, but not too much. Some avalanche debris remained on the north side of the Kuk. You can see them when you're below the summit. Since we were early, we stayed on top for quite a while. Descent via the ascent route. Again, chat with the cavers at the pasture. And the last part of the path to Ravne. Somewhere above the Kal pasture, we heard the whirring of a capercaillie or rock ptarmigan. We didn't see it. Probably a nice last hike in spring-winter conditions.
