Greetings to all mountaineers. Lately I've noticed various namings of cirques in our mountains, even peaks are named differently among themselves. Why that's so, let each think for themselves. In my opinion it's due to insufficient information before we head to the hills. Sadly it's already a staple with us; just like that, on the quick. A good example is one of the most interesting glacial cirques that descends in steps from west to east all the way to Logarska dolina. We know this cirque as Okrešelj. But problems arise when hikers describe their wanderings in this part of the mountains. Namely, Okrešelj consists of three more and less pronounced glacial cirques.
The first, highest-lying one is nestled under Savinjsko sedlo and is called Mrzli dol.
The second, into which steep walls of Štajerski Rinek fall from one side and the mighty face of Mrzla gora from the other, is Zgornji Okrešelj.
Between the above-mentioned cirques is a short easy rocky step called Prag.
Follows a smaller lazily lying overgrown hillock which we call Zaspani hrib, under which one path branches to Turski žleb.
Right after it, going downhill, spreads a more level and also partly forested cirque Okrešelj. This is also the largest.
And the valley head which ends, or starts if you will, we call Kot - that's actually the end of Logarska dolina. And for easier visualization I'm attaching a map of the mentioned cirques (pic 1).
Same with peaks above Okrešelj where naming of Rink gets confused. For orientation attaching a photo (pic 2).
It would be most welcome if hikers stuck to the long-known and recorded names when describing their paths, which of course are still in older books, just need to read them (won't find on web!). PZS also needs to correct place names in their online maps that don't match actual naming (mappzs.si).
