These nice days I also used for 1 solid trip.

19.11.2021-20.11.2021(2 days)

Zirovnica(Potoki) – Vajnež – Stol – Svaščica – Vrtača - Planinski dom Zelenica – past Ljubeljščica peak – Polna Peč – Hut on Ljubelj – Košutica – Veliki Vrh – Kladiva – Visoki vrh – Užnik – Košutnikov Turn – (Correction: Planina Dolga Njiva) - Tolsta Košuta.

On the shady side of Stol there's a snow patch of course, which is usual for this time and location.

Svaščica nothing special, to Kozji vrh(Kosiak) in Austria not that far, I'd say about 3 hours round trip from Svaščica.(Wasn't on Kozji Vrh)

Vrtača normally accessible, nice to go up. I checked (recon) what the difficult pathless route over Mala glava looks like, quite some grass, not completely dry yet, but of course I didn't descend to that pathless part. But there was a strong desire to go at least to Palec, at least Palec stillnasmeh

Then I went towards Hut on Zelenica to eat something and continue. Past Ljubeljščica peak to hut on Ljubelj first part officially very difficult unmarked trail, in practice compared to other similar things I think it's well trodden, you know where to go. Of course some very exposed spots, cliffs, some cables, as expected for very difficult trail label,... As far as I remember at least one passage with cliffs on both sides without handholds.

Hut on Ljubelj open until around six, better check beforehand.

Path from Hut on Ljubelj to Košutica very nice, grassy meadows, nice spots. For some time you go on Austrian side on that road, when there's a sign turn right to another road and right after seeing mark on right into forest. Otherwise if you have navigation then you know.

From top of Košutica towards Hanževo sedlo it starts a bit more difficult, some cables, exposed spots. From Hanževo sedlo to Veliki vrh officially very difficult section. To me personally it seemed so pleasant that you want to repeat it multiple times.

There were two snow patches, one really small but on very exposed spot and one just below summit. In my opinion it can be safely bypassed if you're used to it, but I don't like saying such things everyone must know their own experiences etc,..

I caught up with one Austrian, otherwise no crowd here, but on top of Veliki Vrh quite some people(of course from Kofce and it was Saturday). Path mostly dry, just trail a bit muddy ahead. Fewer people, nice path, nice weather, views really top-notch. When I went over Košuta ridge in July there was quite strong wind, this Saturday second time practically none, so super. Some people were enjoying on Cjajnik.

2 Austrians went on nice circular
route, so ferrata on Cjajnik - up to Užnik and along ridge to Košutnikov Turn and down easier ferrata. It made me want it right awaynasmeh

Then when approaching Košutnikov Turn on last part path officially marked as difficult, but maybe someone would say for some time also very difficult, some more exposed spots, cables, depends how used the person is.

Since I was a bit lazy and lounged another 1-2 hours on Košuta ridge I had to go to Tolsta Košuta in the dark, if doing the ridge I won't be too superficial(correction: so it's not misunderstood I didn't go over Gamsovke but descended after Košutnikov Turn and went up to Tolsta Košuta along the border). I know that path nothing special, but there was a nice evening view on lit-up Austria, went a bit towards Obličem but didn't go to them, it was dark. 2 bivouacked on Košutnikov Turn and were filming YouTube videos and such stuff, so it looked like some lighthouse.

From Planina Spodnje-Zgornje dolge njive still about 4 hours to Jezersko, depending how you step, know the path. I don't recommend the lower marked path, been on it twice and it's wild, though marked it's trodden at the level of some hunter's trail, full of sharp turns and very easy to miss junction. Upper unmarked path along border to Pečovnik in my opinion better, easier to follow, nicer. Last part - about 2 hours is road, depending where you go. Can also go towards Virnikovem Grintavcu, but in that case good to have good navigation on phone with maps. Once this year I went on that path and there was some natural disaster, full of fallen trees quite wild.
Of course much less than some unmarked path through scrub which has overgrown over the years.

Can go down from Planina Dolge Njive to Tržič by road, don't know it but a bit longer but on such road can step a bit faster. But least complications to go down the road and along the stream bed to Tržič.

Sometimes problem doing such tours because of car transport if start point is at the other end.

Or someone comes to pick you up, know someone or public transport. From Jezersko rare bus public transport on weekdays, parking on Saturday(not evening), but on Sundays none!! On Sundays only in summer season. In Tržič there are regular bus lines to Kranj, Ljubljana and also Sunday evening no problem, there is transport.

Schedules:
https://arriva.si/

Water:

-Planinski dom na Zelenici,
-Planinska koča na Ljubelju,
-On the way to Košutica there's a sign on the meadow and you go a bit into the forest towards Planina Korošica, there's water
-near Tolsta Košuta at planina Dolga Njiva

Food, overnight stays:

Dom na Stolu off season closed, for planšarija Dolga Njiva probably too.

Off season: For occasionally open huts on weekends etc., in the style of Valvasorjev dom pod Stolom, Planinski dom na Zelenici, Koča na Ljubelju, Dom na Kofcah one needs to inquire a bit. Koča na Ljubelju closes around six as far as I know.

Note: Maybe the order of some pictures is mixed up, no time to edit too much.

Unmarked paths towards Ukanc in this area, Planina za Migovcem, I went this year to check by the way, completely overgrown with brush, impassable. At least for the first one I can claim. Second at Hanžnova suha probably too.

@Trobec thanks, I'll check it.
AleksanderJ26. 11. 2021 20:02:20
@taubi4 Right on the path though. Didn't count it.
Rž so close I couldn't count Kredarica those few meters either. Maybe someone would, but I didn't count Kredarica as separate peak. As suits one. Official peak if collecting them of course.
Poprovec so close to Kanjavec no real effort needed, borderline if count or not but I did. Both official two-thousanders afaik. Anyway you know better you've got 3/4 super!!! Congrats!!!

Since the discussion turned to maps I made some comparison of them based on my field experience, as far as I know from my knowledge and observation. Mainly maybe interesting or useful to someone.

@drapor it surprised me too, I expected more in a similar tour in KS, even more there. The Locus Map app shows me this much, but really didn't drive up anything by car, started from Mojstrana. But I recalculated the whole thing once more so no one says anything, for me 1 hour of manual work, sectional via https://poti.pzs.si/, something worked and got around 8750 m, unmarked peaks that it doesn't pull I counted based on differences on plastnice Rž-80 m, 85 m Mala Zelnarica, 120 m Kopica, 37 m Velika Tičarica, 36 m Vodnikov vršac). For rare sections that are https://poti.pzs.si/ too long, used Locus Map Web and deducted 10% of their figure. That should be accurate or even less than in reality. So objectively 2187m per day and I changed data to 8750m, so no one says anything.

Anyway, to be honest I don't feel like dealing with elevation meters too much, really don't. Rarely count them. Important that it's a good tour. Don't even time myself when going up.

@UROS1 Thanks! We'll arrange something when the weather is a bit less "harsh". I don't do heavy winter tours, respect to those who do. I think it was the water (not food, not Covid), well as you said buy water or run water through a water filter. Water filter is good to take along and no complications. For me it's a bit silly to always buy water, given that sometimes I drink 4-6 liters a day.

Very nice pictures of "Mountain cats"velik nasmeh Not on this tour, but on a previous one around Triglav Lakes I saw it.

Thanks. You didn't slow down at all, the tempo was good.

Hi, how is access (difficulty) to the summit of Križ(2485m) from Kokrska Kočna? No path marked on maps, only alpinistic ascent via SW ridge described.
