20. 7. 2023 we parked in the garage in Täsch, from where the train connection to Zermatt goes. In Zermatt we bought round-trip tickets for the gondola to Black Lake Schwarzsee (2552 m) and set off on the 2 h 15 min long path to Hörnlihütte (3260 m). The path is very well done and secured in certain places and offers stable steps. Suitable for average hikers of a wide age range. We recommend the mountain trip due to the possibility of incredible and picturesque views of glaciers, mountains and proximity of the mighty Matterhorn mountain (4478 m). If you are lucky with the weather, like we were, you can count on a day that stays in memory forever. The path is easy, the views absolutely incredible, which encourages comfortable and leisurely walking in the spectacular alpine environment.

No, the idea that people are to blame for animal diseases in nature is ridiculous. Those animals suffered from various diseases already in times when tourism wasn't so widespread. After all, they also live in harsh winter conditions. We're not to blame for the jackal either. We hikers didn't settle it. The hunting association earns a fortune from hunting certain species. So hunting is for money, not for preserving balance. The price list for killed or shot animals was published on the Hunting Association website, if it's still there, I don't know. Whoever experienced a hunting chase with half-mad dogs and cries of dying animals doesn't want to experience it again. That's not normal. The fact that in Slovenia there are a couple dozen specimens of certain animals that are highly desirable as hunting trophies shows the primitiveness and baseness of hunters in relation to animals and nature in general.

You don't photograph other people and post them on networks, comment on what they look like from front, back, side, what they wear, don't wear, how fast they are, how slow, what backpacks they have, who causes jam... period. It's illegal. We teach kids this in elementary school because posting young and old has crossed all lines, it's part of general behavior, awareness and respect for others' privacy. Obvious why these girls were snapped. OK if someone needs to look at it multiple times at home, but shouldn't post on websites without their permission.

"Kafetarca", I'd like to encourage you for the Dolomites, you won't regret it.
Overnight (hotel, apartment, rooms) we search on Booking. Always something turns up somewhere in different price ranges. We most often take an apartment at Campolongo pass between Corvara and Arabba. If moving by car back and forth is no problem for you, you can do interesting hikes, outings, tours if you want.
From here you could go on foot towards Piz Boe and Lago di Boe, to Setsas, across the Cherz and Pralongia meadows.
Not too far to Passo Gardena and Seceda.
From Colfosco near Corvara you can ascend Sassongher.
From Passo Falzarego you can go to Lagazuoi, Strio.
Also not too far to the starting point for Cinque Torri, Nuvolau, Tofana di Rozes.
A bit further to drive to the lower station of the cable car for Marmolada - interesting outing.
Almost all ascent descriptions are on Hribi.
Starting points are usually around 2000m. Parkings are sometimes paid, sometimes free.
The region is purely tourist-oriented, some livestock farming too, so expect lots of people in summer. At certain points huge crowds, elsewhere not. Seems to me I listed exactly the most crowded spots. But nowhere bad mood, everyone takes care of their own relaxation and enjoyment in nature. Everything is marked.
Shops are small but have everything you need to prepare something to eat.
Of course huts, restaurants etc. available.
First time it's always like that, you search and grope because you don't know the area, but every year it gets better and you'll enjoy the mountains according to your abilities (physical) and wishes.
For me personally the Dolomites mean increasingly direct contact with mountains, which I'm slowly losing in Slovenia. Slowly saying goodbye to all-day tours with lots of elevation gain and getting up at 4am. Dolomites offer high starting points, which is great.
Already this year I'm barely waiting for next summer.
Decide and go, you really won't regret it.

There are quite a few parking spots, so even on a nice Sunday we get a free spot without problems and bad mood. To Robanova planšarija it's a walk of about one hour, likewise the time to the waterfall is half an hour. The waterfall is on the path to Molička planina. Don't expect a waterfall like Savica. It's more like a water jet, but still nice. At Robanova planšarija they have sour milk, žganci, prosciutto, mushroom soup, strudel, drinks... Cycling to the planšarija is prohibited. As always they have loose horses, which must have some peace, enough that people watch them, pet them... Robanova farm is exemplary arranged and consists of many old farm buildings. Very nice.

Parked at alpine garden and headed to hotel. Road to hotel got new asphalt, ramps installed and notice that all-day parking costs 10€. Barriers up, parking not charged yet. So on Golte still free parking on widened road to hotel for now. Climbed to Medvednjak on path starting at hotel or lower station of Medvednjak chairlift. Continued to Treh plotov and followed direction to Isteje saddle, then to Boskovec to Javorce and finished at Mozirska koča or alpine garden. Trail easy, relaxing, about 9km long. Alpine garden abandoned, path structure still well preserved. Trip suitable for wider population, I especially miss children in mountains.

At Incisa hut in the Dolomites at 1925m there is a marshy meadow part and quite a few flowers with white hairy blossoms bloom. The smartphone explained to me that this plant is narrow-leaved cottongrass.

Part of an article from Slovenske novice 2021: "...While the main building collapsed to ruins, Jesenice native Alojz Žakelj snatched the bunker from the jaws of time and turned it into a bivouac. He knew why he chose this lonely spot for living – from Morbegna there is one of the most beautiful views. Behind rises the mighty western wall of Triglav, to the left Western Julians, in front the mighty dome of Kanjavec and below it Velska valley..."

I ask again, who and what is Alojz Žakelj that all this is allowed to him, and they write about him as a national hero?
Savinja1123. 08. 2023 16:15:29
Who and what is Alojz Žakelj to be able to erect whatever he wants or someone allows him on Mežakla and under Triglav? In 1977 he moved into a bunker under Triglav, a very well-made Italian barracks he himself or with helpers demolished to the ground. He didn't do that on his own because they would have chased him long ago, but all competent services including PZS and TNP, who demolished many things for ordinary people, quietly allowed this savage campaign to this man. They should finally arrange civilized toilets at Planika because they are 100 years behind and parking lots at Vršič, which is one of the lowest passes in Europe - arranged as if it's at 3500m and barely passable. Hundred-year-old Italian and Austrian mule trails are today some of the most beautiful hiking and mountain paths in the western Julians. Maybe the same soldiers built them as the demolished barracks and bunker into which this guy moved, good thing he at least leaves them alone and doesn't paint them blue as if on Santorini. But then the rest of us can choose our own plots too, why not? They should promote Jakob Aljaž and other upright Slovenes who in old times did something really big, forbidden and daring for Slovenianhood in the hills and mountains.

Neighboring countries offer many free starting points, spacious parking lots, good starting altitude. They also have parking lots that offer all that and you have to pay well for it. Blato is charged as a parking lot, but given that the car is parked on the edge of the roadway, it's not at all. Considering that some of us need three hours from home to some starting points there and the same back, hiking 10-12 hours, a higher parking lot is very handy. Simply, certain years come when a higher starting point is more practical and desirable than the parking fee.

There are quite a lot of walking options. If we go further in one direction, we can combine the return with a bus that runs frequently between coastal towns or turn back earlier if we decide so. Along the paths there are often benches and cafes where we can rest. In the hinterland there is not much traffic, a walk on some side asphalt road is not so disturbing. In nice autumn, winter and spring weather, it's really nice and often scenic on these paths. The coastal world is not just beaches, different paths reveal beautiful nature and curiosities that we haven't seen and known before.
Some ideas:
1. Sečovlje - walk through the old salt pans.
2. Portorož - along the coast to Seča.
3. Portorož - Piran.
4. Strunjan - Fiesa (path above Salinero) - Piran.
5. Hotel Belvedere - path past the hotel to Strunjan.
6. Koper - Izola (coastal path closed to traffic).
7. Ankaran - along the path and road over the "hill" to Milje.
8. Opčine - Napoleon's path.
9. Barkovlje - beautiful coastal path to Miramare Castle.
10. Pivka Military History Park - Šilentabor.
11. Sečovlje - Korte.
12. Pomjan - Koštabona.
13. Marezige - Boršt.
14. Marezige - Glem.
If you find one of these ideas for yourself, it will make me happy. Be well.

On the PZS site it says the Dom na Paškem Kozjaku is closed, in Dobrna you could eat well at inns Pod kostanji or Pr´Koren´, and elsewhere nearby.
