Such selfish and narcissistic thinking as lingo allowed himself, never before! According to him today's 69+ hikers should crowd on the bus or sit at home on the couch! And this is stated by someone who thinks he is a mountaineer! Actually the situation with turnstiles and exorbitant parking fees reflects today's mindset in SLO, whose representative is also lingo.mrk pogled

I don't know if most younger people on this forum will understand me, but I'd like to say that in my youth it wasn't hard to climb even 1000 meters, today (almost 70s) my knees can manage max 500 m. And that's why it was so good that my husband and I could drive higher and thus enjoy reaching our favorite peaks. I don't know if the decision-makers realize that with restrictive measures they have perhaps most affected those who lived for the mountains much earlier and many of whom helped in maintaining mountain trails, but today regulations prevent them from doing what they loved so much in life. I understand there are problems due to large crowds, but shouldn't decision-makers try harder and find a solution that wouldn't be so discriminatory towards older hikers. After all, all who are young mountain lovers today will one day be older.

We were young like many on this forum today. And like you, we didn't realize that time would catch up when heart still wants to mountains, but legs simply won't manage the trail from valley like before. So today we drive a bit higher and closer to our hill or mountain goals. Wondering if among all decision-makers (ministerial, municipal, mountaineering, forestry...) in our little Slovenia there's really no one who can sensibly solve problems with high visitation and wild parking on Vršič?? Arrange enough parking (not all need to be at the very top), put up barrier and booth with cashier – simply like they solved it long ago in Italy and Austria! And when parking is full, only bus available (until spots free up).mrk pogled
