On Saturday 23.07.2011 we headed to the 4554m high peak Punta Gnifetti in the Monte Rosa massif. By car past Milan to the picturesque village of Alagna Valsesia, where we took three gondolas up to 3275m. In a good hour we were already at the Gnifetti hut, where after an abundant and tasty dinner we went to sleep.

Despite the good weather forecast, Sunday morning did not promise anything good, as strong wind was howling around the hut corners. Appropriately equipped for the conditions, we took the path to the summit. The path was rather easy for us, as we overtook and passed numerous rope teams. But the weather conditions worsened from minute to minute, complete opposite of the forecast. Hurricane wind, Siberian cold, snow and fog caused some teams ahead of us to turn back. Despite the Siberian conditions we persisted up to 4250m, where we made the hard but only right decision in such conditions to turn around. We descended to the valley in the direction of ascent and from the last gondola before the village of Alagna, our gaze stopped on the sunlit Punta Gnifetti summit with the Margherita hut. Despite smiling faces, after that view only the dot on the i was missing.

I will surely return and drink the deserved coffee at Europe's highest-situated Margherita hut.

Yesterday we had a great ascent to Turska gora starting from Logarska dolina. Path fine, except Turski gully. Up to halfway the fixed protections still under snow, scree on the right side in ascent direction dry, just below the exit you need to cross snowfield. At gully entrance we put on crampons, took ice axe in hand and up the snowfield. But the firm snowfields surprised me a lot, and it wasn't my first time in the gully, almost tucked tail between legs. And at least one ear and eye alert for falling rocks. When we exited the gully on return, a fairly big rock flew over the snowfield and shattered on impact with a rock.

Back to Okrešelj same way up and attended short celebration for 14th anniversary of accident of five dead in wall rescue exercise.

Morning cloudless sky, later clouded over and very importantly no precip. Views eye candy, as mists provided real show with covering and uncovering peaks in parts .

Today first time on Ledinski vrh from Logarska dolina. The trail on dry parts dry. Quite a lot of snow still in Mrzli dol and on the pass between Savinjsko and Jezersko sedlo, which held nicely. Trail from Jezersko sedlo to summit dry. Weather quite interesting - left "above Okrešljem" clouds racing, right clear sky. Between both saddles at times very strong wind. On descent, in Mrzli dol, rain drops sprinkled us. It was a really pleasant ascent. LP, Giti

Yesterday with 9-year-old son and husband first time on Golica. Ascent in direction Križovec along ridge to Golica top, descent to hut for refreshment and below ridge on marked path to car. Most narcissi from Sedlo Suha, elsewhere singles. Short steep on path from saddle to ridge quite steep, but worth ascent, path offers nice views. Son entertained by border stones - one foot in Slovenia, other in Austria. Had great time, even 2 hr drive home no tired. Some pics. LP, Giti.

I read New's post and look at Jovan's picture and realize I should be there too. Right on that picture, at that time, with New. And what, my knee injury doesn't allow it . New happily conquers peak after peak (without me), sends me sms picture to figure out which peak he's on, and this time I figured it out too. And already waiting for the next one.

Everything that "mirank" wrote I can 100% confirm, since I was there too. So, on September 5th we four pleasure-seekers with a mountain guide puffed up to the mentioned summit. Sunny weather, clear sky, beautiful views on the way and from the top, good company, in short perfection from all angles. I would recommend this route to everyone for starting to conquer 4000ers, of course good fitness is needed since the route is quite long. And don't go without accompaniment of suitably experienced people, because on the glacier it's no joke. The most exposed spot is at the very top, the passage to Mary. And a few pictures that say the most. In short, we were at the right time, in the right place. LP!

A beautiful sunny Saturday morning dawned, with view from Areh over Maribor transmitter to the lowlands - Drava plain. In the valley fog, feeling like summer's end. In this case car stayed in garage, as such view offers my home courtyard. Best regards

Same route as "medo" described, but not alone, walked on Friday 2.7.2010, and we also climbed Brana. All protections in the climbing part of Turski žleb are under snow, but great caution needed when crossing the snowfield at exit from Kotliči towards Kamniško sedlo, as high risk of slipping and also careful due to falling rocks in this part. Morning clear, nice views, thunder sounds early afternoon when we were already at Okrešelj, anyway great tour, as the day offered a bit of everything. Safe and happy in the mountains.

Yes, we really met. We found the winter path and it's very suitable for descent in winter time. LP.

Finally I decided to write something myself too, as I regularly read your comments which are very welcome.

So on Monday I went again (brother first time) to Uršlja Gora from Sleme. At the top a bit after nine. Weather clear, moderately windy and views - magnificent and hut open (until 3.1.2010 open non-stop). Not much snow, but careful on return as path quite slippery. Safe in mountains, lp.

This Saturday I'd go with my friend to Peca, so I'm interested in current conditions. Thanks
