In two weeks I'm heading to Korčula, from where I already eyed the Sv Ilija hill last year, which is by the way the highest peak of Pelješac. Can someone maybe advise where the approach is, or briefly describe the path, as I found very little on the net. I'd go to Orebić by ferry at night, then hike up from there, but if you don't know the path you stray easily, wouldn't want to search or get lost too much around 4 or 5. Thanks!

Today I was obviously the first to wade through this snow right to the top. A couple went only to the hut on Planina Rzenik. Went without ice axe and crampons, but cornices and quite thick snow blanket sinking in places to the waist. It took lots of strength. But still, top beautiful, great view on other peaks in KSA, recharged batteries, downhill no problems, could plunge through deep snow. Fantastic, winter is here!

Well-trodden, well-trodden. On Sunday they were queuing to the top. From both sides.

Yesterday early in the morning, to my great surprise the first one breaking trail after Thursday's snowfall to Porezen from Petrov Brdo. No snow at the start, then up to the knees, in drifts you can sink right up to your ass. Anyway, quite strenuous trailbreaking accompanied by tireless wind, but still super, refreshing, idyllic hike. No special gear except poles needed this time, but still recommend microspikes just in case. Road completely dry. Hut open, two guys up there, we had one rožca, on the way down met another guy on skis, otherwise no living souls anywhere.

I agree with what's written. It's always a combination of moderate and healthy diet and regular exercise 3-4 times a week. Personally, I strengthen muscles twice a week on pilates, which helps especially with strengthening abdominal and back muscles, which you really need for hiking in the mountains. Since there's work during the week, some afternoon I jump on a smaller hill around Polhov Gradec or Šmarna gora, keeping a sharp pace for some effect. For the weekend, I plan something more serious, i.e. longer hike/ascent. It shows a lot, especially in how you feel, also in kilos, most importantly in self-confidence, as you become flexible, get fitness, exercise becomes fun and a way of life. In the mountains the mind clears, stress especially disappears early in the morning among the awakening morning and chirping of feathered companions on the way. Go bravely and persistently, the mountains richly reward every effort!

Sadly not tomorrow yet, but I'll go for the weekend and I'd be very grateful if you leave a line here about conditions when you return. Starting from Radušnik. Thanks!

Today ideal day for mountains, took me to Ratitovec. Snow well settled, somewhat icy in places. Ascent possible without crampons, but at least for descent recommend small crampons, as can slip quickly. Ascent very early morning, later lots of people, almost too many for my taste.

Hi, This weekend I would go to Ratitovec and I'm interested how it is with avalanche conditions on the path over Razor. Where on this path are the exposed parts? Thanks
