I notice that there's not much talk about these mountains on this forum, so I suggest combining them into one thread. Before you Bohinj folks attack me, let me clarify what I personally mean by "tolminske gore". big grin You might have noticed that I write "tolminske" with a lowercase letter, since I haven't seen Tolminske gore used as a geographical name anywhere. As a Tolminer, I'm mainly interested in current conditions on the Primorska side of the ridge from Bogatin to Vogel. Or even more explicitly, let's talk about the peaks above the Tolminka and Zadlaščica valleys.
So I hope there are some hill walkers on this forum who wander these parts, and that we can share useful info among ourselves.
Best, Tomaž

Hello, what is the condition of the path from Kranjska koča na Ledinah to the summit? Maybe still some snow? Thanks

When I drove yesterday from Bovec towards Tolmin, a large "snow tongue" was visible from the valley, as Ksena says. After May 19 it snowed too and I don't believe the path is completely bare.

Yeah, of course I won't carry f1.8 to the mountains. nasmeh I own Nikon D7000.

Thanks for the answers.
For now I only have 18-105, because I bought DSLR last year before summer. I shoot practically everything alive, so I'm often at 105 mm. It's true though that for good landscape photography I'd survive with 16-85 too. Then comes some brighter lens with prime focal length.

Marky, have you maybe ever used 18-105 VR? I have it too, but I'm thinking if I should replace it with 16-85. Can you tell what's the comparison like (apart from millimeters)?

I don't know if Evo are harder than Extreme... I have Extreme and chose them just because they are stiffer in the flex, that's how I like it, and cheaper of course. Evo are a bit lighter, softer in flex, so more agile and suitable for climbing.
Extreme haven't soaked me in southern snow either, at most wet from sweaty feet.

Yes that's my home turf, let someone else guess. nasmeh

Montura, Velika baba, on the right you can see the path under Mahavšček. I wouldn't know which those small peaks are nasmeh
