Yesterday was an ideal day to visit the newly snow-covered peaks. I drove by car to Avsa village above Livk, from there on foot to Mrzli vrh above Idrska planina. From the top nice view on one side to neighboring peaks, on the other with good weather you can see all the way to the sea. For many maybe a less known peak, but increasingly popular also as take-off point for paragliders.

Cloudy foggy cover lifted above Planina Kuhinja to top of Kožljak, then sun appeared. Snow soft and sinking, except summit where trampled harder and holds well. Views from top though...

Today from Zadnjica via saddle Čez Dol and Prehodavci to Kanjavec, where on the top a nice view opens to Triglav and other peaks rising above Trenta valley.

I park below Idrska planina, continue on the Slovenian side, snow on top is little, under 10 cm. Walking itself causes no big problems, but occasionally icy ground, so caution is not amiss. Descent via Beneška path, partly on Italian side.

From Avsa village set off at 9am, snow at start ~0.5m, top much more but windblown spots... Base frozen and breaks esp. in lower areas. Some pics..

Yesterday I walked a circular route over the peaks Krn-Batognica-Vrh nad Peski-Rdeči rob and back through Lužnica valley to planina Kuhinja.Sun was occasionally hidden behind clouds,otherwise no fog...Recommended.

Today I was on Krn, weather very changeable, wind, light rain, sun.. Path to hut dry, some snow still on top, behind to lake still quite covered... Some pics...

Thanks. Snow starts soon above the Kožljak slope (where the view opens to Krasji vrh and Drežnica), around 1700m, but it thins out slowly, so no avalanche danger. Regards

If you're heading out, it's recommended to have crampons and ice axe with you, as snow on clear mornings especially at the top can still be slightly frozen. Later when it warms up, gaiters come more into play, as the snow sinks quite a bit. Regards

Attaching some photos from Sunday's ascent to Krn from Kuhinja pasture. Pleasant conditions and warm weather attracted quite a few visitors...

From Avsa to Mrzli vrh near Idrska planina there's almost no snow left (on Friday at the top still cca 25cm), further to Matajur there's probably still about 20cm, but due to high daytime temperatures it's visibly melting. Lp
