Where to tomorrow for ski touring. Any good suggestion. Thanks...
Jume20. 01. 2011 15:38:26
Hello,

I've been doing ski touring for about a year. This year I finally got my own gear too. Since almost none of my friends ski tour, I'm interested if someone would join me or if I could join someone for an ascent or descent?

I don't know the terrain well enough yet to go alone, so I'll be glad for company.

best,
Primož

On the way to the bivouac under Skuta at the spot where you come out of the forest and cross the melišče, lost Sea to Summit sleeping pad.

If someone finds it, I'll be very happy, gladly invite to beer and burger.

Miha ok, I'll report. Today I also talked with a mountain guide I occasionally go touring with, who advised against Kredarica because of strong sun and moving on south slopes with quite a lot of new snow.

If anything changes and it becomes doable, we can do it together if you want... Most likely we'll choose something else though.

Hi,

according to reports here http://www.turni-klub-gora.si/~frances/razmere/, and snow conditions on ARSO, conditions are still quite moderate, so I think the tour is possible. In the next days there also won't be any significant additional precipitation, so the situation certainly won't worsen. The transformation will be slow, but according to the reports the new snow cover is quite well bonded to the old one.

A little new snow contributes to a good ski descent nasmeh.

Anyway, we'll wait until Friday for the final decision, when there will be new field reports.

UPDATE: Meteorologists at Kredarica say there is cca 50-70 cm of new snow, mostly wet, only the last 15 cm is powder. There have been no avalanches so far. They do not advise against it, nor do they recommend it yet; they say to check on Friday, when sun is expected.

I haven't seen anywhere that so much snow has fallen, the forecast also says that until Friday at most 10-10 cm... If really more than half a meter has fallen, then of course we won't go. Tomorrow morning I planned to call Kredarica regarding the fresh snow. Thanks for the info.

Shame because I doubt we'll find another weekend!

Hello,

on Saturday we plan randonee ski to Kredarica and wonder if anyone has been these days to tell what the conditions for walking are and if the path is well visible to Kredarica?

From the whole team only I have been once on randonee ski from Kredarica, but it was April and there was little snow and it really started well only above Tanova Pastirska koca above Polje.

Also interested how far by car in Krma?

Thanks.

Today with my colleague to Kotovo Saddle. Super ski, nice weather, so I recommend. Snow was good and super skiable.

On the path to Jalovec glaciers found 0.75l SIGG bottle in black thermos sleeve. If missing it contact me at 041 595 628.

At Mala Mojstrovka week ago all windblown and icy, bad conditions for nice skiing. At least week ago like that, maybe better now. Krnica super. Hard base and powder on top. Good descent.

Thanks... don't know this Velika Dnina, gonna google it a bit. Jalovec Glacier unfortunately bit too steep for me now.

Any other suggestion?

Yeah pardon for question. Interested me cuz I don't have crampons with me currently (lent out). And since I'd still like to go I'd like some first-hand info. I know well what smart equipment is in winter in mountains. Been to Viševnik 3x and not once needed crampons... Goggles anyway don't have.
Jume21. 01. 2011 14:06:20
How's Viševnik? I'm thinking of going tomorrow very early in the morning. Are crampons mandatory? Last time when I was there it was doable without problem without.
