Description: In 1945, the Bündner mountain village of Flims made history when the world's first hooded chairlift to the hamlet of Foppa began operations that year. The facility with its side-facing seats quickly gained great popularity in the post-war period, leading to an extension two years later to Naraus and in 1956 to Fil de Cassons at nearly 2,700 meters altitude. While the two chairlifts were replaced by modern models in the 80s, the original aerial ropeway by Von Roll, one of the oldest in Switzerland, still exists today.
