Description: One of the exciting sights of the romantic Somogy hills is the ruin of Fehérkő Castle. The castle, mainly made of bricks and little stone, is first mentioned in 1336. Over the centuries it had several owners. It survived numerous smaller and larger sieges, for example in 1490, when the soldiers of Archduke Maximilian Habsburg invading the country plundered and burned the building then in the hands of the Báthorys. In 1544, the Hungarian army blew up the fortress, which was already considered obsolete, so that the Turks could not occupy it.
