Description:
Near the small Nógrád county village of Kazár, famous for its colorful folk costumes and rich folklore, lies a unique geological rarity in Hungary, a weathered rhyolite tuff. This specially appearing white rock resembling crested waves was formed as a result of volcanic activity 20 million years ago. The soft tuff surface was shaped into its current form by water erosion. An unparalleled interesting sight is the extremely varied terrain, crisscrossed by deep ditches, towers and cones rising, as if walking on the surface of a petrified, foaming sea.
