Description:
The castle was probably built in the last third of the 12th century and guarded the entrance to the Helenental together with the opposite Rauheneck fortress. It is first mentioned in 1186 with 'Alber et Chonrat de Ruhinstein' in the Klosterneuburg tradition codex.
