It starts in the center of Breitscheid. Already behind the church, it goes out of the village up to Buchheister and further towards Fischbachmühle. In the Aubachtal, the Breitscheid Cave Tour meets the Rothaarsteig and runs with it downhill to just before the Wildweiberhäuschen, a legendary, striking limestone rock. The Aubachtal is lined with basalt blocks that were transported there during the last ice age. Particularly exciting is the small quarry Schönbühl halfway, which leads you into the interior of a former volcanic chimney.
