Description:
Skógafoss is one of the waterfalls where almost every visitor to Iceland stops. It falls from a height of 60 meters from a former coastal cliff, now almost 5 km from the sea. Its powerful 25-meter-wide cascade creates a dense water mist where a rainbow is often visible on sunny days. A viewpoint has been built at the top of the waterfall. If you go higher along the Skógá River, you can find several smaller waterfalls. The famous Fimmvörðuháls hiking trail also starts here, leading through the Fimmvörðuháls pass to the Þórsmörk mountains.
