Description:
The 'Alte Zügenstrasse' through the Zügenschlucht, inaccessible for centuries, was opened in 1874 after just two years of construction. For a century, it was the only traffic connection between Albulatal and Davos until it was replaced in 1974 by the newly built, winter-safe Landwassertunnel. Since then, it has been closed to car traffic and converted into one of the region's most famous hiking and cycling trails.
