From 22 to 26 June I went around the Dolomites again and discovered new corners in this wonderful mountain world.
Where we all went with my friend, see the two links below

Ampezzan Dolomites were wrapped in dark clouds upon arrival, in Cortina it was raining like from a bucket and expecting anything other than whitened peaks was impossible. In the morning I cram my feet into winter boots and head from Passo Giau to Nuvolau and then to Averau. The latter was a bit tricky with icy rocks hidden under snow, but the views were divine. Afternoon hop to 5 Torri, followed by pondering where to go the next day.

From the north side of Cin to Locatelli (hut), from there to the home hill Sasso di Sesto and then to Torre Toblin. Huh, after a few meters 'Stairway To Heaven' rolls in my mind. To the top the initial picture of the approach doesn't change - ladders follow ladders. When you reach the sky, you can descend by what is for me a nicer path, which is secured but only with cables.

Third day to the insanely attractive Cadini di Misurina group via Bonacossa path. If anyone is taken to those parts, I strongly recommend.

Next day to Col dei Bos via the secured Truppi Alpini path and to Piccolo Lagazuoi, from where I descend via the picturesque path of the imperial hunters (Sentiero dei Kaiserjäger/Kaiserjägersteig). Before returning home, I squeeze in Sas de Stria/Hexenstein. For the latter hill, in some German guide the subtitle reads 'Klein, aber fein', with which I fully agree.

This time I will record the times of the hiked paths, but I must emphasize that I don't know if they are objective. It annoyed me because, except for the Cadini, for no planned tour did I know how long it should take.

Nuvolau-Averau (circular from Giau pass and with coffee at the hut): 4.30

Auronzo hut-Locatelli hut (path 105)-Sasso di Sesto-Torre Toblin-Auronzo hut (path 101) (with longer stop): 4.50

Lago di Misurina-Col di Varda hut-Sentiero Bonacossa-before Auronzo hut across to the path leading back to Misurina lake (with coffee at Filli Fonda Savio hut): 6.00

Strobel restaurant-Col dei Bos via Truppi Alpini ferrata-Piccolo Lagazuoi-descent via Kaiserjägersteig-Strobel restaurant (with two longer stops): 4.50

Sas de Stria (start and return to museum): 1.45

Dolomites - second part
Monte Paterno from west to east
and
Tofana di Rozes up Lipella and past Giussani hut back to start.

Friday on Paterno quite some visitors, ferrata dry. Saturday on Tofana in tunnel wet and slippery, middle part dry, below summit ferrata partly icy, summit slope with little snow which before noon partly icy and partly softened.

Italians and Austrians dug tunnels also to have passages to the other side and safe shelter from shelling of mountain guns and guns from lowlands, wounded and also separate spaces had officers and soldiers and wounded soldiers, it was terrible then, now beautiful and peace, let it stay so, nice pictures.

Some Dolomites wanderings..., on the last snow already whitened highest and huts closed doors, cablecars almost not running. Peaks anyway dreamy, paths no special, steep screes still annoying, views shaped by fickle weather.

Croda Negra and Monte Pore
I started at Falzarego pass and more or less followed the path to Croda Negra. Last day in October the path was very muddy due to rain that stopped that morning. At the summit the western ridge revealed itself, calling to continue. So instead of the descending path on the slope I went along the very interesting ridge. At the most exposed spot I found a few meters of fixed rope. Before the notch at the end of the ridge slow down as the wall is cut off (pic 8) and descend left on short steep slope towards the path visible below. After the notch I turned to the last crags hoping to find a suitable gully for descent between them. No luck so I climbed to the upper chairlift station and started descent on the right side of the gully. At first possible spot i.e. at first protection net (pic 9) turn right out of gully and descend adjacent gully. Continued on meadows to northern ridge of Monte Pore and met my company at its top. Followed social descent to car waiting at Fedara hut a bit below Giau pass.

Becco di Mezzodi
Next day with M.J. we went from Giau pass towards 'Cortina clock'. Quite long approach where you don't gain much height as path goes up and down. On way to base of Becco di Mezzodi we crossed three saddles (Forcella de Col Piombin, Forcella Giau and Forcella Ambrizzola). At the latter we left path towards start of Via Normale. Climb three chimney pitches then more or less scramble one more on ridge to summit. Hardest is second pitch which we did each our way, colleague old style feet on one wall back on other, for me better straddling (official III+ newer around 4). Won't comment grade but suggest not do chimney in such cold weather rock polished slippery. We agreed boots should be replaced by climbing shoes but didn't have - low grade sounds strange but much easier in precise footwear (chimney pic 21).

Beautiful tours before weather worsened nasmeh

Dolomites in June are particularly beautiful. Everything full of water and all fresh green.

This time too. Higher up still lots of snow. Good side glacier under Marmolada fully snow-covered so ascent not demanding.

Dolomites offered me this time:
Cascate di Fanes; Marmolada and Punta Penia; Rifugio Croda da Lago; Lago di Limides and Rifugio Nuvolau.

How it was shown in blog made of two parts.

rerze11 great description of your trip. Could you explain what we'd need for visiting the three cimes? We've been planning a day trip there for a long time. Thanks for the help and best regards.
