Hi.. As far as I know Viki Grošelj also organizes treks to Mt. Everest 2x a year (spring, autumn). Otherwise this trek is in the framework of filming documentaries with RTV, and at the same time they take (bring) some "tourists" with them Best to find his phone number and call him.. LP!

Call Marjan Kregar, you'll get the number or email and find out everything...last year we met in Kathmandu with his trekkers. He's a seasoned Himalayan with some ascents over 8000m. lp Robert

I'm interested, but would go through an agency... I'm wondering how much money you actually need, besides the agency payment, and of course altitude sickness worries me. Does anyone have experiences with this?

Two years ago I was there, spent about 600€ for 28 days, but bought all sorts including a thin painting that wasn't cheap. Of course it's good to have some reserve with you, just in case... As for altitude - the trek must be led so that you do acclimatizations and proper rests. There was no problem in our group. However, you can't know in advance if it will befall you or not. If it does, you return to a lower area. There are also some institutions along the way where you can get medical help (but not much ) If you want, I'll send you a recommendation for ZS - I was extremely satisfied with the time - price - seen and experienced ratio.

Super, thanks for the answer... I admit I've long dreamed of going, my second wish is Patagonia... I'm thinking of signing up for the autumn term, Mera Peak tempts me of course, but that's 6400m plus climbing, well, I'm not sure if I can manage

foxy 15.4.2012 A good offer is one that includes everything except personal expenses. I would suggest that you check with PZS mountain guides if any of them has an autumn group planned. It's important to take enough time (we planned the trip a year ahead) and prepare yourself well in terms of fitness. That year we also didn't vacation by the sea, because it takes away your "altitude". As for altitude sickness, it can't be predicted. Maybe for your information, monitor your biorhythm and see for yourself if anything affects your well-being. It's important to drink as much fluid as possible at altitude, which is more important than food. A mountain guide will instruct you well about all that. Ideally, the future group meets on hikes before departure for such a trekking. People are different and it's good to get to know each other. Even the altitude itself affects people's reactions. Years ago we were on a trek on the Tibetan side and approached the north face of Everest there. Kathmandu-Lhasa by truck and back by plane. We were a closed group. Actually, we always go on all treks outside Europe with the same people. That provides some personal safety to a certain extent if something happens. Our Czech friend/alpinist, who has a travel agency, prepared the trip for us.

Good references, if I were deciding on the trip I'd rank him among serious and reliable providers. The price isn't too inflated either.

Thanks for the answers, I'll check. I admit I didn't even think of PZS, and I've never heard of Volontar before.

If you don't have to go in autumn, a good trek is also end of March, beginning of April...........autumn is still high season, and it's crowded too.............no problem going on your own, you can arrange everything, info you get in SLO almost everywhere about Nepal and its treks.......... We were in Nepal and India 40 days, Everest trek, it was really good, we were 3, it cost us cca 1500€ per person, all complete, of course own organization............we were there March-April 2010......

I don't have a team, so I'd prefer organized....my hill folks either aren't capable, those who are don't have interest to go alone of course is out....for going alone I'm too much of a chicken, and too social to wander around alone
