Akle and Starec

Print
Trobec29. 08. 2022 20:01:11
Several of us wondered how it would be with continuing towards Srednji vrh... so yesterday I intended to check it out nasmeh
A day not for high mountains, only fairly acceptable weather seemed suitable for central Karavanke and KSA. Still, the weather didn't quite pan out, but there are some answers mežikanje
From Starec via saddle almost directly towards the west and then along the ridge that starts to rise towards Srednji vrh, or slightly to the right of the ridge. Terrain is extremely broken and crumbly, I think no more than I, maybe some really short detail II.
Got to cca. 1650 m, then a shower hit me. For almost an hour I "bivouacked" there, then descended and continued on a much easier path to Javorov vrh.
For the first adrenaline, even before any climbing, a close encounter with a wild boar and piglet took care of it eek

Will try again in the future... of course in different conditions nasmeh

Bravo. I'm curious where exactly on the ridge below Cjanovca you hit the markers?

Thanks nasmeh

Hočo, where the marked path from Cjanovce is visible on the map (black dots), on the graph it's the "peak" before 8km.

Got maybe a photo of that spot?

No, don't have. The path branching off the marked one is quite visible from a couple of meters. Height around 1550m, maybe a bit less.

Well, yesterday afternoon I also tackled this pathless terrain, specifically following the little climber dwarf's description. I climbed to the ridge right after the bus stop, first a few meters along the track, then right uphill. I followed the pathlet all the way; it got lost in some spots, but if you looked ahead, it reappeared.
I had no orientation problems anywhere, since you just go straight uphill. Once you reach the ridge, the direction is of course logical. I conquered only Akle, although I'm not sure exactly which peak it is - the one with the cairn or the one where you then descend to the saddle between Starec and Akle. Here a nice view opens ahead to Starec and Kozji vrh. When descending towards the saddle, I skidded, as there was just enough snow on the very steep terrain that I was no longer confident. So I turned back.
The descent back to the valley was quite adrenalizing at two spots, at least for me; the dogs were cool as spritzer, so I breathed a sigh of relief when I reached the highest track. Finally on solid ground velik nasmeh We follow the tracks to the valley, where we go a bit our own way. On the way, we unwittingly scare mouflons and roe deer, the main culprit being Blue, who else. When we reach Lobnica, we follow the road back to the starting point.
A tour for all lovers of pathless terrain, wild and solitary, also adrenalizing at a few spots. While walking, we listened to avalanches rumbling from Kočna (also visible on the 4th picture). Next time we'll tackle it from the other end to climb also Starec. It must already be nasmeh

@ppegan, am I reading this right...: "Along the path we scare mouflons and roe deer, main culprit is Blue, who else." cooleekzmedenzavijanje z očmijezen... speechless, really. No, Blue is not the main culprit, but her owner!

Pohodnik11 it wasn't that bad as it reads. Yes, of course we scared them, but they are shy animals, not used to people and dogs in these parts (we had two encounters on the whole tour). Roe deer in the valley also get scared of us, because they are shy animals nasmeh Blue's owner immediately stops her from chasing animals, as she knows it's not right. Blue is just a hunting dog and has a bit of hunting instinct nasmeh

Better someone answers which peak exactly is Akle?

You actually wrote it awkwardly, nothing else. From your outings it's clear how "obedient" your dogs are, the word scare can be read one way or another. I've also been scared by chamois, roe deer, fox, even some "stray" cow in the forest where I wouldn't expect it, if the encounter was sudden and unexpected. Who scared whom more, me them or they me, is of course irrelevant velik nasmeh

Dog owners don't realize that forest animals need peace for breeding offspring. At this time many birds nest on the ground too.
Warnings, dogs on leash, are obviously just for decoration.

Bojan, true, I expressed myself awkwardly, which I of course regret. Anyone who knows me or my two dogs knows how obedient and well-behaved they are and that there's no democracy with me. The dog must obey, especially in the mountains. If I give a command like behind, they do it immediately, not after half an hour of persuading.
So far we haven't had any problems with encounters with wild animals in the mountains, we've met chamois, ibex, bear, wild boars, vipers, hens... no problem nasmeh
Seinfeld in all these years of hiking in hills and mountains, I haven't come across birds nesting on the ground, so no need to worry about that.
Can we now close this topic and focus on Akle and Starec??

Probably there won't be a conclusion, because it's more interesting to comment on something else than the topic zadrega

I first identified the peak as that big anthill. Then I was quickly corrected that there's a cairn on the top. Given it's a bit more spread out and heavily vegetated, it's not quite easy to identify nasmeh

Yes ppegan it hurt you, that's why the topic needs to be closed. But still you never have dogs on leash. Yours aren't like that, they don't run along the path, chase animals etc... Everyone says that but truth is different. Everywhere full of dogs, trails full of poop, child steps in it, oh child must watch out, dog owners don't. No offense but I see too much wherever I go.

Sara, hurt? Why? Because you assume and even judge what kind of person I am and what my dogs are like, even though you don't know us at all? Because you are probably perfect. Not at all.
It gets on my nerves because instead of the topic we debate completely other things irrelevant to the topic. And then debate about it for pages. And completely litter the topic.
I suggest you open a new topic titled Dogs are terrible, dog owners even worse and we can debate there endlessly about my "untrained" dogs velik
Oh, about the leash, true I never have them on leash, because dogs that obey don't need a leash nasmeh Simple. If you ever meet us in the hills - from all your posts here I assume you hike a lot, just tug my sleeve and lecture me about dogs. You'll be the first, you know, so far I haven't had bad experiences with hikers when we met in hills/mountains. Strange huh, given how terrible my dogs are jezik
And to deal with poop on trails. Mine don't poop on trails, they are ladies and elegantly go aside velik If you're curious about anything else on my dogs, just ask, I don't bite velik

Trobec, obviously you're right. No end eek
So, is Akle where the cairn is, on picture 15? From the hike I'd hardly identify the peak. That's why I ask here, where surely someone knows the answer.
