What are the conditions on Blegoš? Is winter gear needed?

Sunny +4. Have waterproof boots, backpack on shoulder and go. What do you mean by winter gear? Crampons and ice axe not needed

Hey thanks! Yes that's what I meant, if crampons are needed. So no need. But is there snow up there at all? Probably just a little. Coming from Lj. Which path/road is recommended? I mean, how far by car? Guidebook has several variants. I've never been to Blegoš yet, though I've covered quite a lot otherwise. About time to visit this end too. ;-) Greetings from gloomy cloudy Ljubljana. Dušica

Yesterday we went to Blegoš. Too bad it was foggy and windy but still nice. The path is well trodden.

On Friday 8 February my colleague and I started from Jezgorce, to the top it took one and a half hours. Tomorrow I'll go up the same path again.

We started from Črni Kal. Road drivable, only slope just below parking icy, so some had to leave cars right by the road. Quite a lot of visitors.

Today I chose Blegoš from Črni Kal. Road drivable to some 100m before. Lower part path a bit frozen due to early hour, but once in sun snow softened instantly. Track well made, ski tracks visible in forest. On top slightly windy, nice views to Julian Alps (even saw Montaž), light a bit diffuse so photos not best. LP Andrej

On Saturday, April 5, we were with Johan. Started from Črni Kal direct to top, back to hut and from hut by road. Path well trodden and snowy. No difficulties. Nice trip. It was sunny and clear then, view wonderful all around.

On Monday, 29.12. on Blegoš, really insanely beautiful, especially above the fog. Path well trodden (all three) so we didn't need crampons. On top windy, quite

What's the condition of the road to Črni Kal? Can you go only with winter tires?

On the last day of 2008 we were on Blegoš from Gorenje Žetina. The road to G.Žetina was salted a couple of km before Žetina, further to Žetina just sprinkled with sand, but we slowly got to G.Žetina without problems. From there we went on foot, although some also drove with cars without chains to Č. Kal. The road from Žetina to Č.Kal was plowed but not sprinkled, but with winter tires it obviously goes. With bad tires I don't recommend.

The path to Blegoš is excellent. You can reach Črni Kal with good winter tires, tracks are made. If someone comes towards you, then it's over , you'll have to go far back and try again. Otherwise the path to Blegoš is well trodden, I went on skis. Around 12 it was already nice southern, and snow was braking skis quite a bit. Descent was excellent, about 5cm southern snow, below hard base.

Today I did the last tour before longer bad weather. Given the forecast at least clear morning, I headed to Zg.Žetina. At Črni Kal the sun was already waiting, so I went to keep it company on the southern side of the mountain. Past Prva ravni and to the top of Blegoš the path was quite comfortable. Snow from rain compacted even better and froze, so my 84kg held. At the top 10cm blown last snow, at the hut only 3cm. Just the last meters to the top taken care by cold western wind announcing snow even to lowlands this time. I slide to the hut, soak up a good amount of vitamin D, chat with GRS guy, labrador, Croat from Cerkno ski slope and then haul down the northern road to Žetina. Today sun above 1000m, Žetina at departure -1.5°C. Best, from Rok
