Boč - Plešivec - Donačka gora.......

Today by bike from Poljčane first to the top of Boč to the RTV tower 978 m a.s.l. and then via Formila clearing to the 822 meters high Plešivec. According to the original plan that should have been enough, but due to the pleasant cool in the forests of Boč and Plešivec I continued along the ,,spur,, via Ravnocerje plateau and Sv. Florijan to the mountain hut on Donačka gora. To the top it would also have been possible to ride by bike but it would have been decidedly too much against the mountaineering and touring cycling code and I rather sat by a cold drink at the mountain hut in pleasant chat with known and some less known visitors of the mountain hut. Yes, the hut was massively visited today....... and then return via Čermožiše pass between Žetale and Majšperk along the flooded Dravinja river back to the start and also final point in Poljčane. Meadows along the Dravinja river were very lively today as farmers were doing mowing, drying, silaging, baling......Five hours of riding, 70 covered kilometers and a good one and a half thousand elevation meters was the final inventory of today's ride......

Today Sunday again towards mountain hut on Donačka gora in a somewhat easier variant. To mountain hut on Donačka gora today I rode via Dedni vrh and Ravnocerje plateau, which has the least elevation gain and is suitable also for less fit cyclists. From Ravnocerje plateau descent to Sv. Florijan and via Tlak and Strmec on forest roads to mountain hut on Donačka gora. Descent from hut unlike Friday route via Kupčinji vrh settlement to Stoperce and then classic along Dravinja back to start in Poljčane. Conditions for riding excellent - dry paths and light northeast wind cooling nicely. Met quite some cyclists but all on flat, as obviously forest paths and elevation not appealing too much.......Total 56 km, a bit over thousand elevation meters in three and a half hours.

nasmehAfternoon from Poljčane via Podboč settlement to Rogaška side of Boč to Gavez farmstead or hunters hut LD Rogaška Slatina and then return via climbing area, Formila clearing, hut of PD Poljčane and pasque flower site on Boč back to Poljčane. Humidity hit quite high on Boč and no excessive freshness higher on Boč today. Path conditions of course excellent hoping announced night storms won't too much ,,devastate,, forest roads and paths on Boč......

nasmehOn Sunday 01.08.2010 from Poljčane via Boč and Plešivec by bike to border Macelj to source of Sotla river. Ascent from Trlično settlement above hunting hut Lipovec - LD Rogatec surprisingly very direct, but overall rideable practically to the source of Sotla river. Descent from Macelj on forest road along the very Schengen border with Croatia republic in valley of so-called young Sotla. On return also ascent to mountain hut on Donačka gora and then via Kupčinji vrh, Stoperce and along Dravinja river valley back to Poljčane. 100 km ridden and less than two thousand elevation meters in good six hours certainly enough for excellently spent part of otherwise humid Sunday on paths and roads between Boč and Macelj.

nasmehDuring week when there's not plenty of time I do short jump from Poljčane via Ljubično and Podboč settlements and Pritensko vineyards to Studenice on old Roman road which in Roman times named ,,Fons gratiae,,... Short tour but some elevation and MTB pulse nevertheless there..

Today afternoon by bike before showers a bit higher in landscape park Boč - Plešivec to Gavez and church Sv. Marjeta on Rogaška - Kostrivnica part of Boč...
Conditions for riding excellent - forest roads and paths dry...Wind just enough to cool pleasantly... On return also ride past pasque flower site and short section under Ljubično to Lušečka vas in Dravinja hills area.

...Today afternoon, after a quite powerful thunderstorm with hail, nevertheless a ride to Boč this time from Studenice via the abandoned forestry ramp under Stavski vrh, climbing area, Formila clearing and the hut of PD Poljčane on Boč... descent via asphalt connection to Zgornje Poljčane and at the end still a ride to the area of Dravinjske gorice under Ljubično and via Lušečka vas back to Poljčane... Conditions for riding were solid because there was no sultriness and annoying insects, but forest roads on Boč have been decently ,,gnawed,, by storms in the past days.

Astronomical start of summer yesterday 21.06.2011 at 19:15 and sunset at 20:57 were excellent ideas for connecting two time points with a touring bike in the landscape park Boč & Plešivec. I started exactly at 19:15 in Poljčane and finished it at least on macadam at 20:57 at Sv. Miklavž on Boč. In the time of summer start and during sunset I thus connected some important points on Boč at summer solstice when the daylight reaches its annual maximum...

nasmehToday Sunday in landscape park Boč & Plešivec by bike to the extreme eastern point - Ravnocerje plateau and then continuing to the very top of the bald 822 meters high Plešivec mainly with the desire to ,,rack up,, a thousand elevation meters... Conditions for riding more than excellent although forest roads especially in Plešivec area were pretty torn up from previous storms... Today also with some nostalgia for the turbulent events of June & July days of 1991 since I spent quite some time as a member of TO in the Boč area mainly in the zone between the hunting lodge LD Poljčane, Formila clearing and the tower on Boč... Met quite some cyclists and hikers also in parts of the landscape park Boč & Plešivec that are rarely visited but hide a lot of beauties and curiosities...

Today afternoon a short MTB circular tour through the so-called border - edge parts of the landscape park Boč & Plešivec between the settlements Ljubično and Krasna... To have some ,,story,, in the tour I went back about 70 years into history - to the year 1941 and photographed the abandoned military bunker with ,,Očak,, in the background in Zgornje Poljčane by the road to Ljubično settlement. It is a German monument of some bygone times. In the stormy years before World War II when the whole world trembled before the German army it was built by the old royal army as protection for the bridge over Dravinja between Poljčane and Zgornje Poljčane. According to some historical sources it did not play a major role and was fairly quickly destroyed with two fallen soldiers of the Kingdom of SHS army...

Between Ljubično and Novaki in the border parts of the landscape park...

...Today Monday - day of the week when Boč is least besieged, by bike a bit more concretely into landscape park Boč & Plešivec via entry point - Podboč settlement and ascent to abandoned forestry ramp under Stavski vrh - Stavšek where forest roads from Poljčane and Makol meet... continuing due to late hour the shortest variant via climbing area, partisan hospital and Formila clearing to the hut of PD Poljčane on Boč and final descent on asphalt to Zgornje Poljčane... One and a half hours and eternal dilemma between watching a good movie, basketball, football... or ,,enjoyment,, in the forests of Boč & Plešivec.

Today to the mountain hut on Donačka gora via Boč and Plešivec in one of the easier variants on the route Podboč - abandoned forestry ramp under Stavski vrh - Dedni vrh above Makole - Ravnocerje plateau... Forest roads and paths dry, I'd say annoyingly dusty with light southwest wind. Descent from Rudijev dom I did via Čermožiš, Nadol, Sitež and Narapelj to Majšperk. Continuing return along the Dravinja river back to Poljčane. Pleasant and still quite... summer tour with first grape pickers in vineyards along the way and also first hedgehogs with chestnuts on the ground.

Today Sunday pleasant with useful...Invitation from relatives from Stari grad above Makole - Variše vas for grape harvest I used for MTB bike jump to their wine cellar - ,,gurce,, right over Boč. Stari grad with vineyard terraces encroaches into Boč & Plešivec and here quite some high quality wine is produced... Pleasant gathering with relatives, friends and acquaintances on sunny Sunday was really the right thing and afternoon for a change return via Šega stream valley, Makole... back to Poljčane.

14.06.2012 one circular MTB combination from Poljčane into landscape park Boč & Plešivec to the east to Ravnocerje plateau which is quite classic. Conditions for riding very good in sunny weather and optimal temperature although Boč after quite a long time ,,well soaked,,. Really quite pleasant end of the day on lonely roads and paths because the time was already late...

On Sunday, 17.06.2012 with mountain bike to Plešivec and this time in variant along forest logging trail from the forest road that goes under the ridge. Less than a kilometer of medium difficult ascent which mainly only connoisseurs of these terrains ride, but it is exceptionally interesting and continuing from the top of Plešivec along the trail on which they recently dragged logs. This part is distinctive because it runs almost exclusively in the part of forest with conifers which are very strongly represented on Plešivec...Terrain mostly dry and already in mežikanje ,,shade,, slightly humid on more sunny spots.Descent I did continuing via Formila clearing which was for the first time this year mowed in the middle of the week and hut of PD Poljčane on Boč...

In the middle of the week by bike to Boč from Poljčane in front of the Nature Development Center and connection of two old Roman roads in a circular variant.. While the first Roman road from Studenice towards the tower on Boč up to 730 meters, where it joins the forest road to the tower still ,,somehow lives its life,, and is still marked on some maps, the return on the second from the junction for Formilo downwards was practically only a fictional bike ride, because I walked most of the path with the bike by my side or over my shoulders. The road heavily clogged with leaves, stones, decayed trunks...especially full of nettles and practically no longer marked on maps.

mežikanje Still the loop somehow succeeded and with broader interest and change of the currently valid legislation on riding in natural environment this could become a revitalized more demanding MTB partly-circular path from Poljčane via Studenice to the tower on Boč. Paths dry and similarly today.

In the evening after a muggy and hot afternoon to the landscape park Boč and Plešivec by bike to the Ravnocerje plateau. Today in combination via Formila clearing and climbing area to Dedni vrh above Makole and then along the connecting - partly panoramic forest road to Ravnocerje plateau. The connection between Dedni vrh and Ravnocerje plateau is the lowest and easiest natural passage between the Makole and Rogaška area in the Boč and Plešivec section and runs roughly all the time at around 600 meters altitude up and down a bit. It also offers quite a few views of the Haloze world, the Drava plain area and Pohorje. Return via Gavez farm, St. Marjeta chapel and mountaineers' hut on Boč back to Poljčane. Fairly northern locations also allow pleasant sports activity even on hotter days and real experiences...

,,Here mežikanje today one in the style of Sigma counters,, for training to landscape park Boč & Plešivec from Poljčane and after 15 minutes - Pritensko vineyards above Podboč settlement, 30 min - water reservoir above Kleče, 60 min - Dedni vrh meadow above Makole,68 min - Ravnocerje plateau, 90 min-highest point of the path on forest road under Plešivec ridge towards Formila clearing, 120 min-parking above Zgornje Poljčane before entering ,,Baba,, and after 125 minutes - home and jezik ,,bottle of radler,, straight away for regeneration. 27.77 km and +735 m ascent/-707 m descent, max speed 53.6 km/h and max altitude 755m a.s.l... and that was nasmeh it. Paths mostly dry and in somewhat shadier spots partly still wet. Best regards

Late afternoon by bike to Šošterica above Makole via Boč and Plešivec in a circular variant. Šošterica waterfall is currently without water. Today first time by bike while I have already been at the waterfall in hiking variants. Sometime in the future after heavier rain definitely a repeat visit to finally see it in mežikanje more majestic form.
