Some photos from today's walk from Lokvica to the monument, or officially the Monument to the Defenders of Slovenian Land at Cerje. The day was slowly saying goodbye, fog from the valley swirling also among the ever more red sumac. There were no views that are usually offered here. But the glowing clouds and almost round moon made up for everything.
The Karst is more beautiful every day and beckons.

Cerje along the pleasant macadam road to the road and then right towards Pečinka cave3
Cerje At the junction before the cave I continued left and joined the trail leading to Borojević's throne. On the trail I turned left again and continued towards the monument.4
Cerje Monument in the distance. This Karst is so beautiful that I would take the shortest path. I always make as large a loop as possible.5
Cerje I joined the road leading from Lokvica i.e. the main road to Opatje selo and continued a few steps towards the monument (view back)6

The sun shone for a few hours on Goriška too and colored Kras with glowing colors. Real balm for the eyes after endless rain. Temperatures luxuriously spring-like, 12 degrees at 4pm at start in Lokvica.

Even when colors aren't luxurious, when there are no views and the setting sun is barely caught through clouds of fog, it's nice on Kras (5. and 6. 3. 2014).

Hello! We admire the pictures and are a bit envious of the pleasures. We'd like to head out on the path from Cerje to Trstelj. I'm wondering if the path is marked. Can we get lost somewhere? Thanks for the answer.

I haven't walked the mentioned path yet. But something about it is written on this forum:
http://www.hribi.net/trenutnerazmere.asp?slo=1&gorovjeid=26&id=961&stran=1
and in the path description to Trstelj and other peaks in the Črnih hribov ridge.

Sometimes I go to Fajtega hrib (up to there a good part of the path is still scenic), but the continuation through the forest doesn't attract me. I prefer wandering on paths around Cerje and if there are no views, I at least enjoy the karst expanses.

I advise you to set off as soon as possible, or wait until late autumn when the Kras in red is most beautiful. Soon it will be too hot for walks on the Kras, and the path along the Črnih hribov ridge can be overgrown in summer.

Well, we walked it. The path from Cerje over Črnih hribov to Trstelj, drink in the hut and descent to Železna vrata, was a great enjoyment today. Spring weather accompanied us and wonderful views all around. Some of you were walking around Triglav, we had a great time here too.

When I see how much sumac grows, I think that autumn is very beautiful in these parts, I'll return in autumn when everything is dressed in red color.
Sadly, it was all red from blood here a hundred years ago when soldiers were dying, but that's a topic that belongs elsewhere.
The hill is interwoven with paths that lead us to memorial markers that still remind us of the First World War.
From the top, beautiful views open up from the Julian Alps all the way to the Venetian bay.

On the hunt for fluffy clouds I went to Cerje on 27.8.2014 and arrived just in time to catch how the setting sun colored them.
Otherwise, in summer Cerje is in the domain of cyclists. But since this year it resembles autumn more, the temperature in the evening was just pleasant for walking on the Karst, a few days before that I was even freezing like mid-winter.

Yesterday's late afternoon walk to Cerje offered a wealth of views and colors of the setting sun. Sumac in all shades, some still green, many branches already bare. This year's abundant rainfall accelerated the reddening of leaves, which usually just start reddening at this time and only reach glowing shades with the first frost. In the photos from the previous post, the sun was setting still to the right of the tower, now it has already shifted left over the sea.

Miri, thank you. I agree with you, but storytelling briefly doesn't go well for me. With posting photos I want to present the feelings and glow that envelop me on my paths. That's why I don't post only the best photos, but also those that just connect the story or detail the path, exceptional views, unrepeatable colors that are not the product of computer processing, but creation of nature.
For all who cannot experience it live. But I'm trying to improve both in quantity and length.

After the last sunset of 2014, I headed to snowy Cerje along the classic path from the icy parking lot. Also on the road to the monument lots of ice, mostly icy were all the little paths and trails I walked. On the way back, crampons were a useful aid. At the top, the bora was blowing quite strongly, so I watched the sunset mostly from the shelter corner at the monument. This time I didn't manage to catch the sun the best. But there were some colors for farewell to the old year.
Happy 2015!
