Really exemplary, especially vaccination of the elderly population.
Let's calculate a bit:
70% vaccinated, Icelanders 360,000. --> approx. 108,000 unvaccinated.
Effectiveness 60% for whoever doesn't stop just at the title. --> 100,800 additionally endangered people. (40% of 70%).
So potentially infected 208,800 people. Here we wouldn't question effectiveness of individual vaccines (Astra e.g.), nor account for somewhat lower effectiveness against delta - assume it's all covered in these 60% effectiveness, otherwise could increase the number.
Clear, not all will get infected, some 70%, regardless of contagiousness (because around there herd immunity protects), but due to delta contagiousness it will happen very fast and say during max 'ruckus' time, when it goes for hospital bed occupancy: 30-40%. Well, of course need to consider other approx. 150,000 partially protect too. Well 20-30% Ah, here recovered too. 15-20% e.g. Take 17% --> 35,560
Of them a third, quarter get sick, say quarter, not too much. --> 8,890
Against severe course protects 90% --> 889 hospitalized over one, two months period.
Say two. Three ok. Excellent elderly vaccination somewhat lowers number but not much, since 90% likely average all ages. Say 600 - 700 --> 650.
Will Iceland hold this number? With their health system, say.
Slovenia? X6 3900 Yeah right. Much lower vaccination, esp. elderly. At least X10 6500 in two-three months.
With Slovenian, not Icelandic health system.
And if no more contagious variant comes.

Anyone who can think a little with their own head knew then it was partly precaution of course, since it was H1N1, Spanish flu virus whose circulating mutation wasn't so bad as it was first thought, partly also a scam or triggering excessive panic to sell as much vaccine as possible.

It will be interesting to see the mortality statistics by countries for 2021. If it's increased, I guarantee officially vaccines won't be blamed, but gamma, epsilon, Colombian, Madagascan, Congolese strains. But until that publication a very long time will pass, since in the eighth month of 2021 for most countries we don't even have mortality data for 2020. Meaningful? The 2020 mortality rate would be one of the key data for analyzing the actual effect of covid-19. I believe many scientists are eagerly awaiting the data. But in August 2021 we don't have 2020 data  What we do have (my published example for Germany) shows COMPLETELY ZERO impact on mortality.
