As far as I know, the strain can only be determined by sequencing. In addition, they said that rapid tests do not detect omicron. Bećar, the question was "how do they determine during testing if it's delta/omicron". They can't, because it's determined by sequencing, just as you added later yourself.
PCR or rapid test only shows virus presence. But of course you can say otherwise, whatever someone is currently positive for, there's 99.9% chance it's delta or omicron, because nothing else is circulating
