Has anyone been up recently? How's the trail followability? Thanks for the replies.

This mountain is very popular. I recommend the approach via Brinova glava, descent via scree.

Good followability was already there more than 30 years ago, so today it's probably much betternasmehnasmeh

If it's your first visit to these parts, for starters I recommend ascent and descent by the same route, whichever it is.

I also, like Tone, recommend up via Brinova glava, down past the bivouac...

Hello, is there still any snow on the path, maybe in the notch? I plan to go up on Wednesday. Thanks for the reply.

In the afternoon I park in Poldov Rovt. I start right across the road near the stream bed and through pathless forest to the path leading to Dovški križ. I go up via Brinje; it was windy through the forest. Higher up I meet hikers with whom we chatted a bit. Below Šplevta I turn left onto the ridge. Then I continue to Dovški križ. I arrive just before 18:00; I still had lots of time, I sat and watched the mountains. After some time I slowly descend the other path; to the left above the meadows I came down. It is much more crumbly. At the bivouac I stop, put on long pants and rest some more. That day I met only that hiker, saw no one else anywhere. I descend the scree, which is interrupted several times by hard sand. Lower in the forest I turn left to explore a new visible path. I know the one in the middle and the old path; this left one joins the middle one and then goes right when you are already near the stream bed. Along the stream bed or above the forest ridge I return and arrive back at the starting point.

Today I first planned something more southern, then with the warm and sunny forecast I rather switched to the north side, i.e. Jugova gully. Here, surprisingly, the snow is still quite unconsolidated. Treading from 3 larches almost to the end of Jugova. The left upper branch of Jugova is nicely filled, no serious drop. My mate even skied it, roughly like the five who came after us.

Dovški Cross via Jugova gully. Wanted it, but didn't make it this time. Had to admit nature's superiority this time, so it was only "almost Dovški Cross". Since a promise makes a debt, Andrej joined us on the tour this time.
Starting point is the end of the forest road in Martuljek. Snow already at the starting point. To Za Akom without winter gear or to below Three Larches, where the terrain steepens again, no further.
Since there isn't much snow yet or only in gullies, progress to the entry into Jugova gully is without major issues, but in Jugova the fun begins. Snow unfortunately not yet consolidated and wind has drifted quite a bit of it, so we sank up to "balls" and more. Therefore we turned around a bit below the last jump out of Jugova gully. Well, next time nasmeh Still a nicely utilized day in Martuljek.
Andrej, thanks for the great company mežikanje

To the mountains one goes in the following order: head, legs, hands. Otherwise excellent idea!nasmeh

Branko, you didn't say that obviously the day before someone probably with a board rode down the whole gully... hats off to that one who after this snow where in the gully ,,ornk,, even stones were visible, which he rode over, snowboarded into the valley,... otherwise yeah... for 100m approx 1h and when you step half a step forward, your leg sinks lower than where you stepped before.

But, it was really nice and that square meter of ice we also ,,stamped.. hahahaha

On such a beautiful gorgeous day, in the nicest lonely corner of the mountains to a rarely visited peak. I parked at the parking lot behind Cmir, then via a shortcut to the path and along the scree to bivouac II on the bushes. In the last part over steep meadows and Jugova gullies to the top, the air was crystal clear to zero and the eye reached far. Descent to endless scree and into the forest and along the logging trail to the road.

Today Dovški križ.
My first visit. Up through Brinje, down via scree below bivouac II. No major peculiarities, except that it was one of the most beautiful ascents I've ever experienced.nasmeh

Descent to the notch below the summit moderately difficult. There was some already crusty snow. Or any snow on the path (the little that was left), since it's the southern approach, it was crusty and hard. I used the ice axe for 3 meters on the descent to the notch, because I had it with me, but it would go without.

One was up ahead of me and another behind. At least two were on the Altar. From afar I'd say for the Altar on some sections crampons were probably already needed.

Well not everything went smoothly. On descent after the scree I kept left, which is OK... But at one point I went TOO FAR left and got into a steep gully ending in a rock step. Halfway up the gully I realized it was wrong, but didn't want to go back up the steepness and went to see what it looked like ahead. In the end the step was on the edge of my comfort zone and was the most adrenaline part of the whole trip. velik nasmeh If I'm honest with myself, I should have turned back. Lesson: eyes on stalks and don't be stubborn. jezen zadrega

The palette of colors in October is always breathtaking. No more words, so more in the attached photos.
