Has anyone been up recently? How's the trail followability? Thanks for the replies.

This mountain is very popular. I recommend the approach via Brinova glava, descent via scree.

Good followability was already there more than 30 years ago, so today it's probably much better

If it's your first visit to these parts, for starters I recommend ascent and descent by the same route, whichever it is.

I also, like Tone, recommend up via Brinova glava, down past the bivouac...

Hello, is there still any snow on the path, maybe in the notch? I plan to go up on Wednesday. Thanks for the reply.

Dovški Cross via Jugova gully. Wanted it, but didn't make it this time. Had to admit nature's superiority this time, so it was only "almost Dovški Cross". Since a promise makes a debt, Andrej joined us on the tour this time. Starting point is the end of the forest road in Martuljek. Snow already at the starting point. To Za Akom without winter gear or to below Three Larches, where the terrain steepens again, no further. Since there isn't much snow yet or only in gullies, progress to the entry into Jugova gully is without major issues, but in Jugova the fun begins. Snow unfortunately not yet consolidated and wind has drifted quite a bit of it, so we sank up to "balls" and more. Therefore we turned around a bit below the last jump out of Jugova gully. Well, next time Still a nicely utilized day in Martuljek. Andrej, thanks for the great company

To the mountains one goes in the following order: head, legs, hands. Otherwise excellent idea!

Branko, you didn't say that obviously the day before someone probably with a board rode down the whole gully... hats off to that one who after this snow where in the gully ,,ornk,, even stones were visible, which he rode over, snowboarded into the valley,... otherwise yeah... for 100m approx 1h and when you step half a step forward, your leg sinks lower than where you stepped before. But, it was really nice and that square meter of ice we also ,,stamped.. hahahaha

Today Dovški križ. My first visit. Up through Brinje, down via scree below bivouac II. No major peculiarities, except that it was one of the most beautiful ascents I've ever experienced. Descent to the notch below the summit moderately difficult. There was some already crusty snow. Or any snow on the path (the little that was left), since it's the southern approach, it was crusty and hard. I used the ice axe for 3 meters on the descent to the notch, because I had it with me, but it would go without. One was up ahead of me and another behind. At least two were on the Altar. From afar I'd say for the Altar on some sections crampons were probably already needed. Well not everything went smoothly. On descent after the scree I kept left, which is OK... But at one point I went TOO FAR left and got into a steep gully ending in a rock step. Halfway up the gully I realized it was wrong, but didn't want to go back up the steepness and went to see what it looked like ahead. In the end the step was on the edge of my comfort zone and was the most adrenaline part of the whole trip. If I'm honest with myself, I should have turned back. Lesson: eyes on stalks and don't be stubborn. The palette of colors in October is always breathtaking. No more words, so more in the attached photos.
