Yesterday morning I finally visited Dovški Cross, planned since early spring. At Vrata entrance 137th. Good, didn't go to the goal, saved 3.50 euros again .
Right above the weekend hut I notice there was a recent bad storm. Beeches everywhere, up to the branch to Brinova glava. At the bench in a flash, always stop briefly, nice viewpoint. On a huge boulder that will crash into the valley in 1000 years . The path is nicely followable, above scree someone cleared rubble a bit. Just puffing to meter cairn marking saddle Šplevta-Dovški Cross, young couple descends grumbling about difficulty and friability of the mountain. Ha, belongs to Martuljek .
More enthusiastically into the fog, only half hour to the top. My camera sighed relief at summit, no conditions for snapping. Stayed half hour in vain. Fog gone while lounging on Šplevta .
Descent on scree express, stop at spring and to Dani for beer

Today in these beautiful Martuljek mountains. By 6am at the bivouac to normally cross that descent to the notch, otherwise so much thaw that it blows your head off Views were top!

What are the conditions up to the jump at the red stream? Is that "harder" section already icy? Asking because going to Šplevta only with ice axe (no crampons), wouldn't risk snow over that wall.

But when does the steep part of the trail start? Everything dry, scree fields a bit tricky on some sections so crampons packed away downhill already at 1900m. Uphill put them on around 1700m but even then only 2 steps on scree managed. Along Rdeči potok bed it's wrecked probably avalanche. Recommend helmet cos everything flies on scree hehe, sorry for writing so bad

Yesterday I went to check conditions under this mountain (went to Splevta). Went through Brinje, where on the initial slightly steeper parts on unprocessed snow on grass it was badly slippery (step sinks to base then whooosh). Chose path by my abilities so as not to trigger small avalanche accidentally, maybe too paranoid but better safe than sorry.
Already midway through Brinje due to conditions decided to go max. to Splevta, finally turned at big boulder on saddle. Also went to Splevta top but turned due to disgusting sinking.
After all seen continuing to Oltar in that unprocessed snow on Saturday... better not say. Same Dovški Cross (unprocessed snow on Skrbinje? thanks no).
Thought of return past Bivak 2 abandoned, because sinking to mid-thigh deep in drifts on Splevta top. And feeling at thought of descending there extremely unpleasant, can't put into words, didn't even try to understand, just intuition said go back.
Bottom line: still quite unpleasant tour. Don't know how conditions change but wouldn't recommend yesterday's tour. Be careful these days in mountains. Wind surprised me and I was cold despite warm winter pants, down jacket etc.
At half past four afternoon quite near valley, still dressed like Eskimo, met two young girls without winter gear going overnight to Bivak 2. Described conditions, warned as much as could and they went on, hope they're ok.

This time the forecasters hit it spot on  But since hope dies last and so that the topic wouldn't end like that, we started at four in the morning from the wild parking towards Brinova glava. Lucky us, on return no parking ticket on the wipers .
Goal was V. Rokav, but after just under three hours, when looking at the sad entrance to the couloir from the saddle under Šplevta we decided for plan B, D. Cross.
The couloir looked weak from afar, forecast not encouraging. It took a good half hour to the top, fog enveloped Rokav and Oltar already after 10 min.
Since descent in fog from top is slightly problematic, after short break on summit we descended to saddle under Šplevta where we had left all climbing gear. Plan was to stop at bivouac II, but first rain drops dissuaded us. Rain intensified and after end of express screes we put on waterproof clothing. It didn't help much, we arrived at car wet as puppies . Satisfied with the trip despite change and choice of lower easier goal, richer for wet experience.
