Also on Sunday 10.10. Dovški Cross was very well visited, relatively many hikers also on Altar and at least two on Sp.Rokav. Otherwise from Poldov Rovt it causes some additional orientation problems when searching for the starting path via Brinje or to Bivouac II at Jezera, the fallen autumn leaves on paths and some downed trees (timber hauling), some (weirdos) unfortunately also don't heed the "little men"!

I studied all route descriptions well in various guidebooks and on hribi.net, so no orientation problems. Didn't expect such a well-followable path. True though, someone somewhere wrote they searched for that junction a whole hour. lp

To sum up predecessor's words on this forum "long time no one wrote anything about" Dovški Cross. Who is looking for easy passages in recent history, namely weekend looks divine and I decided for Dovški Cross, past Aka via Jugova. Or Veliki oltar would also be interesting. Given it'll be hot and thaw I'm looking for gullies shaded most of the day. Nicely asking for some advice.

Jugova is a good choice, very good. Be early! And don't forget skis!

Maybe a better title would be "In search of winter on the towers of Široka peč". Anyway, today Matej, Borut, Prešč and yours truly climbed through Jugova to Dovški Cross, rappelled down on the rope to the notch between Dovški Cross and Široka peč (connecting Martuljek ridge), continuation to the main summit didn't appeal to us as the rocks were just dusted, so we decided to abseil into the Amphitheater, enjoy little-known beauties and descend back behind Ak. Start at 6am from GM, on top of DK we stood a bit after 10. From GM we went on a completely dry path to the cirque, there chose the right gully, climbed to three larches, from there along an unmarked rib to the entrance of JG. We were squealing, such good neve it was, we even hit some ice... The gully exit is snow-covered. We continued to the left, rappelled to the notch of DK on the rope and shortly after already stood on the summit completely alone. After a short break we started descending towards the connecting ridge, there picked up the Jesenice guy and rappelled down on the rope to the first possible passage on the ridge. Continuation didn't appeal due to bad conditions. Hop down to the Amphitheater and abseil over the drop, which is made with ice! That was our last abseil as we descended the gredina and gully completely normally. In the gully there is over 5m of snow. Super day, which was perhaps spoiled only by sour weather and my digestive issues... J&P&M&B The tour belongs among alpine ascents, mandatory is knowledge of movement in a rope team and skills of descending on rope, climbing. To make life easier choose 2x60m ropes and a couple of pieces of gear! Otherwise it is well equipped, but stances are mostly under snow (if you don't know the location...) for the tour 4 rappels and "concrete" conditions are needed... Great tour, worth two beers (at least )

thanks, thanks. We always think also how to draw a smile on forum members' mouths. That's why pig Pipi became permanent companion of the team climbs "like a pig"

Great tour. Weather was excellent today - quite cloudy (intermittent views) and light breeze - which made walking much easier. Up top there were about ~10 of us today, some went elsewhere. So much for solitude. No luck with getting lost either. And if anyone still doubts, snow is only left below the top of Jugova gully.
