Today I did a nice walk to Dovški Cross via Brinje, descended via screes past Bivak II. Path without peculiarities and orientation issues. Super photo tour.

Friends are sometimes to blame that the hike to the mountains doesn't start in early morning hours, so on Saturday with a hungover head I start ascending from Poldov rovta around noon. At the junction for Brinje I head east on the marked path and leave it in the first big grassy valley and among bushes and the right gully search for passages to the big screes Med Plazmi. Luckily the Kopica walls provide shade for part of the way. Then I leave the screes and traverse right towards meadows under Tičarica. Since I prefer wall over meadows I head along the edge of the deep gully, whose bottom is nicely passable, and through the passage at Tičarica height exit onto extensive meadows under Peščenjak, leading to the ridge right of Škrnatarica. I climb to Škrnatarica and then along the ridge to Dovški Cross, where I just catch the sunset. In moonlight I descend to Bivak II, which was already full, so I sleep one of the nicest nights this year under the open sky.

Already in the shade and view of the characteristic head in the middle of the scree, which we can bypass on the left to avoid the scree and descend from its back towards the exposed ledge to the right.4

Along the exposed ledge behind the edge to the grass under Tičarica.6
Immediately behind the edge I head upwards to the bottom of the gully on my variant, the path described in guidebooks from the edge crosses further right to less demanding grass.7
Already on expansive meadows left of the sandstone. Grassy ridge right of Škrnatarica and left ridge towards DK already visible.8
Očak was visible all the time.9

Shortly after dawn we start ascent from Poldov rovta. We take the path past the bivouac. The little path is fairly traceable, but you eat a lot of grit (great for descent though). At the bivouac we admire beauties all around, meanwhile eyeing today's peak. Path is marked here and there with cairns so no orientation issues. After good hour from bivouac we're already at the top from where nice view opens to Amphitheater. On return we hop to Šplevta too. Again towards bivouac and then most of the way we slide down scree. Again one super tour.

Nothing beats scree for descending to the valley although it was smoking so we were like from a mill.7

Past Brinova glava to the top and then via grit-fun "classic" back to Poldov rovta.
Winter gear recommended. Possible without it with small detours over crumbly terrain.

Today we were with a colleague at Dovški Cross. Slept over at the bivouac yesterday and up this morning. Already yesterday we met acquaintances descending to the valley, so we got first-hand info on conditions. They broke a little trail for us, but snow is dry and unconsolidated, sinks in places still. Gully is nice. At the top rocky jump difficulty II. For those not used to crampon climbing on loose rock recommend bringing climbing rope (30m, 8mm) or 30-meter rope. Only after exiting the gully the world opened up, as we walked in fog before. Today it blew very hard too, still feel it scraping my face a bitnasmeh. Otherwise wonderful tour full of experiences and adventures.

It's really nice to go on such a tour where cairns show the way and you follow barely visible path. So today I decide for Dovški Cross. Up via Brinje, back past bivouac. Well not without hitches, morning I miss the junction for Brinje path. When I reach stream bed via forest path I see I'm wrong. What now, nothing, backtrack, wanted to sit on that scenic bench by Brinje path. Minute or two and at junction. Clearly visible and cairn there too, eh early hour and my eyes still asleep mežikanje Then smooth all way to top.
Sit a bit on bench, not so much for rest but to enjoy views.
On screes spot some chamois, watch them long. Suddenly one dashes off, others follow. Before behind boulders unseen. Females with young, never seen so many together.
In Dovški Cross slope early morning grass still wet. Over those grasses everyone goes a bit own way. Bit on path, bit my own where easier. When narrows to one path, soon at top of Dovški Cross.
Top quite warm no breath of wind.
Day beautiful and views accordingly. Wonderful nasmeh

We wanted to go to V. Oltar, but it was foggy
and cloudy, and since it was our first time, we finally decided to visit Špkevto and Dovški križ, which was less foggy. We wanted to go to Škrnatarica, but we didn't know where the entry was. Down express on scree. We'll repeat soon because it's really nice and no crowds. Yesterday the only ones on this side of Vrat. Regards A and J

Does anyone have info on the conditions in Jugova gully? Has anyone skied it this year? Planning to ski Jugovo at the end of the coming week, curious about conditions. How far can one ski up? Regards, nejc

Yesterday was really a day you can't order or buy... it just happens... and if you're lucky, at the right time in the right place nasmeh. We went to Dovški križ and on the way back also stepped onto Šplevta. The path over Brinje is gorgeous and well traceable. Mihelič writes that this is a very, very lonely world. Yesterday it wasn't exactly. Eight of us gathered on the summit, but there was enough space and beauty all around for everyone nasmeh. We descended past the bivouac over those loooong screes. And when the scree ended, we looked for the "connection" to the forest pathlet. There simply weren't any of those stone marks to guide us, and we could easily have filmed a scene for the movie "Gremo mi po svoje" there yesterday mežikanjenasmeh. But in the end we found that nice soft path that led us back to the starting point.
Crazy beautiful spots, we'll surely come again. nasmeh

Up via Brinja down past the bivouac, that's how I headed to Dovški Cross today. In Vrata valley it was just right in the morning, I knew there'd be sun higher up, so I chose this peak. Walked in fog, cold, drizzle for a while then suddenly end of fog, shivers ran through me, it was so beautiful. I stop and gaze at the views, sea of fog. Later continue ascent towards Dovški Cross, no snow on the path. At the top gorgeous views of the highest peaks, cloud ceiling just below 2000m. No wind, just right, so I stay up there at least an hour plus. Then descent past bivouac and back via scree to the valley. Careful at the end of scree, two paths, don't cross but descend right above the waterfall, path visible there. Fog and cold air accompany me there too.
