On Sunday we ascended to Goličica from Cestarska bajta. The trail is fairly easy to follow. Also no problems to the top, just in one gully soon at the start (1200 m asl) a bit annoying.
Although solitude of the tour to Goličica should be guaranteed, yesterday it wasn't so. In one hour around noon there were about thirty people on the top.
Weather sunny and views excellent. Also no trace of any snow on the path.
Back to Kukla along the same path, there we found a poorly visible trail towards Kugy. About a hundred meters we followed green marks on rocks and trees, lower there were none or we missed them. The trail also disappeared for a while, but we found it lower again and descended along it to the bridge over wonderful Mlinarska korita.

Along the path you can always find stones and branches with which you can nicely mark the path junction so that for example on the return you don't get lost . . . and with your foot you "drag" it through the leaves on the ground and the trail certainly remains until the end of the tour . . . and similar. Really no need to carry paint with you . . . just imagine what it would be like if each of us on every tour just slightly "sprayed" one little rock or one log mrk pogled

Gentleman comrade Ivo, very interesting and solitary tour in Posočje. Obviously the green dots were painted with good intention so no one gets lost or strays. Good luck!

Today, on my second attempt, I managed to get up. Given certain elements of the normal "path", I preferred the route from Kugy monument. But around the hunting hut a problem appears as the path crosses a new (probably) windthrow area, so there are loads of fallen trees on it, passages are difficult in places, continuation from the hunting hut (important orientation point anyway) becomes a bit unclear. Well, we managed to solve it, found a path that branches more or less right at the hunting hut upwards and followed it. Higher up it was better, although the path got lost in quite some places. After joining the normal one, the path was more visible and no issues to the summit. Summit views standardly perfect, weather cleared up so much we even dozed off a bit.
Descent though - well, I didn't fancy breaking through those trunks again so I thought those ladders aren't so bad after all. Ugh, what a mistake. Still as bad as before, passage recommended only for those who hate themselves. I would have turned back up and sought descent via approach path, but then my companion took action and went looking for passage above the gully. And found it, although that one too is just a hair's breadth less psychotic than straight over. Continuation mere formality, ending of course with ten asphalt serpentines.
In short, nice viewpoint in remote spot, access mainly for psychotics (normal path) and masochists (from Kugy monument). I think the tour stays unique for me. No snow (expected) anywhere anymore.

We bid farewell to Kugy and continue to the bridge over the Mlinarica gullies. First we look at the lonely house in the middle of the Trenta slopes and continue along the normally passable hunting path to the hunting hut. Here the first signs of the huge windthrow appear, which luckily did not significantly damage the path continuing to Kukla. From here on, the path to the summit has no special features. On the descent, it's visible that the usual path from Kukla to the Mlinarica gullies is in very poor condition; quite a few fallen trees and scree slopes that require special attention.

Goličica (2108 m) – small mountain with big views (conditions 1.8.2020)
The starting point is not hard to find (curve no. 38 of the Vršič road at the abandoned road maintenance house), where there might be a problem with the availability of parking spaces (max for 4-5 medium-sized cars), but to tell the truth, there's never so much traffic here that it would be a big issue. And parking is still allowed and free here for now. Unlike the starting point, it's harder to find the very beginning of the path - at the gullies or across the bed of the Mlinarica stream, but if you follow the description and photos from hribov.net (by the way, good description), you won't have problems.
The path itself and access to the mountain is not too demanding, except for orientation sense, because the path is not marked, but it's well traceable. From summer onwards it's certainly always well cairned, because here and on such paths we mainly walk mountain lovers and hikers who like peace and don't like crowds. A bit more attention might need to be paid to the detours due to fallen trees after exiting above the first gully, mostly on the left side in the gullies looking upwards and then also above the saddle below Debla peč (1693m) with the thick rock (there where the green arrow described on the forum is on the rock), when looking for the path again more to the left on the ridge looking upwards. All three scree gullies that are crossed at their upper edge require a secure and cautious step, but in dry and nice weather these few meters are not problematic. If you head to the mountain early enough, you'll walk in pleasant shade up to the aforementioned saddle and a bit further, and otherwise avoid summer heat and sun exposure.
As mentioned - in the title above, this mountain really has such wonderful views that it deserves more visits, in nice weather you'll never regret the time and path, as you can see more than half of our highest Julian peaks. Of course, the views and wishes mainly extended to continuing this ridge towards the Kanceljne and Planja,… but from Germlajt onwards it's no longer a usual "family outing".

Yesterday to Goličica from the road maintenance hut. Late start, only at 11am, but there was still space for parking in front of the barrier. Wonderful sunny day, path well cairned. Cairns sometimes very creative. Crossing Mlinarica unproblematic, currently several crossing points possible. Water lively, roaring.

In the first part the path is quite traceable, locally overgrown, barely noticeable, lots of fallen trees that you bypass several times on your own inspiration. The slope several times quite steep, for quite a while you hear engines from the Vršič curves. Just below the summit met a couple, we chatted pleasantly, they came from Kugy, otherwise no one else.

Regarding crossing the gullies, a lot has already been written. I don't know how much the condition changes every winter, since it was our first time here, but definitely caution, concentration and secure step are needed. The three gullies require full attention. They are very short, we bypassed two on the way back a few meters lower than planned, because it seemed safer to us. Grip found in tufts of grass, small firs, some root, sometimes even that isn't there. Terrain in some places really climbs...

First part pleasantly in shade, several times through trees wonderful views of the peaks above Trenta. Complete escape from everyday hustle.

From the big rock, where only a hint of the green arrow remains, then steeply or better straight up. Just a few dozen meters further, the path disappears as if cut off. We continued diagonally upwards, but quickly realized it's not the right path. Obviously not just us thinking that. We went back and found the path straight up the rock and quickly the right little trail. While ascending we admired the ever better views, fought with scree that was often a nuisance, often also good help. Lots of flowers in the last part, just below the summit first cow parsnips.

The last minutes of walking along the ridge are truly magnificent. On an almost grassy path you reach over 2000 m. And all around rise gray rocky masses, including Očak. A moment for gazing and admiring that just lasts and lasts, it's so beautiful. One even forgets hunger. Alone on the summit for quite a while...

From the forepeak you can also see the road hut. Far below.

On the way back we pondered if to go via Kugy. Since it would be too many curves to the car then, we returned the same way anyway. Thanks to the aforementioned conversation partners who marked the cairn for us where the path branches to Kugy. nasmehnasmeh Now we know where the junction is. And from there the path to the summit is also more trodden.

Return without incidents. Descent express, with caution when crossing the mentioned gullies.

I can definitely write - wonderfully spent day above Trenta! nasmehnasmeh
There are several possible crossings over Mlinarica, we two went along the rocks below1
