Hello!
Today it was worth getting out of the warm bed a bit earlier, for those who see the charm in the sunrise. So that my step wouldn't stall, I headed to Gora Oljka, to which many paths lead, my favorite is from below Vimperk, where I leave the car and start the hike. Conditions fitting the season, slightly frozen, of course without snow, in the forest leaves rustle under feet. In early morning you meet roe deer and bird calls too, which are now rarer. In the hut of course friendly staff and friends of Gora Oljka and conversation starts. Really, I had a good time, even though only 733m asl. Met a like-minded person on healthy lifestyle in today's world, when we take too little time for ourselves and of course for other people. The sun shone again, go to meet the mountain. LP

Hello!
Nice if one starts the day with a trip into nature and I did that pretty well. Wasn't too high up, at Gora Oljka, which is closest to my home. Always tight on time and so one "jumps" to what's nearest. Conditions on the path more spring-like, bit of wet snow, also some ice and of course mud. So caution isn't superfluous. Didn't see the lunar eclipse, but some sun rays greeted me.
Best regards on the first calendar winter day.smile

Sorry, no pics. I think you believe me that I was at Gora Oljka. No digital camera, mobile is also so-so, Santa has already brought me a scanner and I can't demand more from itbig
I'll attach one, let it be what it will be. You know that apple trees bloom on Gora Oljka in spring. Hope you know where it is. LP

@otiv, plenty of apple trees, in autumn I pick one "on the way" to munch, but in spring I'll check which one blooms so nicely before the marker, hehewinking

Today for warming up from Šm/Paki-Podgora-Oljka Hill, back via Martinova path.
A bit of wind and a bit slippery, due to mud on the trail.

Today, on 15.01.2011, hikers from PD Velenje went on the 29th "Zdravju naproti" hike to Oljka Hill (733 m). We gathered at 8am in front of Hartl inn, a bit before Podkraj cemetery near Velenje. It was raining at the start but soon stopped. Took two hours to the top, mostly on road, occasionally through forest.
Considering it's a winter hike, no snow anywhere, not even a speckeekrolling

Lack of time embarrassed quick jump to Oljka Hill, which was still deserted Sunday morning. Trail was great, all frozen. Up via Martinova path to Jug, then through forest to top. Down the other side to Šmartno ob Paki. When returning there were already quite some hikers heading up.

Up to Jug and a bit higher there is no snow, yes it was possible to run (on Martinova), otherwise I was in the woods and regretted not having sneakers.

Stream by Paka - Mount Oljka - Podgorje.
Although the day was foggy, Mount Oljka was visited by many hikers again today. The path was slightly snowy but not slippery yet.

Today's promising sunny day had to be used to visit some nearby hill; I jumped to the "home mountain" (as my mountain buddy says) i.e. Mount Oljka - from Podvin direction; I have to admit it was quite cold, road to Jug clear, further snowy, partly icy, but well "gravelled"; at the top of course followed the obligatory gibanica (yum)velik nasmeh; surprisingly and praiseworthy was seeing three younger primary school girls (apparently even 3rd and 4th grade), who used holidays to gain hiking experience and climbed to the top by themselves; best regards

Today there was again a morning run along Martinova path to Mount Oljka. Beautiful morning on the top, almost like a winter fairy tale high in the mountains. On the top clear blue sky, big sun and sparkling droplets of rain on the leaves of freshly greened trees, below fog and darkness covering the lands.... too bad I didn't have a camera to capture it, will have to repeat...nasmeh

Hm, today Mount Oljka was almost conquered. In the middle of Martinova path, a bit below Jug farm, the summit was blocked by a close encounter with two wild boars. Obviously I huffed into their territory. They didn't like it, grumbled something in their language, then trotted up Martinova path where I was heading too. Since the encounter wasn't pleasant for me either, I huffed back down Martinova path and straight home. On hikes to Mount Oljka this year I've noticed quite a few traces of wild pigs. Anyway I don't want to deter anyone from plans to jump to Mount Oljka, but a bit of caution won't hurt now in spring, when piglet mamas can be a bit nervous because of their offspring which they consider threatened. And they're right, since we enter their living space.

So that my "home mountain" isn't forgotten, I'll attach some morning pics. About current conditions at this time there's nothing to write anyway, only that along the path in the morning darkness I was accompanied by glowing eyes lit by my headlamp. In the valley and at Jug farm those were the well-known green eyes, along Martinova path small light yellow eyes and a bit further larger yellow eyes that flashed towards me a few more times, then silently disappeared. Towards the top the morning dawn awaited me.
