Grintovec and Kočna

Well, I'm interested in what the path from Češka koča to Kočna is like.

For someone who has already done Škrlatica and Jalovec, probably not too demanding?

Helmet probably mandatory?

The path to Kočna is easier than to Jalovec. Better to have a helmet, though last time some on Kočna were without it. lp

No, no snow, except if you go from Kočna to Grintovec, there's still one snow patch that can be avoided.

I'm planning Jezerska Kočna for tomorrow, wondering what's the best way up - via Češka koča or from Suhadolnik? Thanks for info.

On Saturday started at Zg.Jezersko or a bit further from Planšarsko Lake. Continued the path past Češka koča over Mlinarsko sedlo to the top of Grintovca, where strong and very cold wind was blowing, so descent was express. Followed re-ascent to Jezerska and Kokrska Kočna and back to Češka koča or Planšarsko Lake. Day was sunny, warm, if we ignore the top of Grintovec... nasmeh

At 7:15 at Suhadolnik almost full parking lot and they were even setting up tents together. Thought I was early enough eek

. With promising forecast and great will I head to the mountain. Below Taška I catch 3 ladies with one young guy and continue. Already on the path through Grdi graben I feel I'm not first. Confirmed when I reach Dolc and no living soul (animals) jezen

. Soon see hiker ahead in the middle of scree (see pic?) and catch up. Bivouac doesn't look normal? Either it has a summer roof or old one blown down the gully (where I saw it too)?? Path through scree endlessly long - two steps forward one back. When finally reach the wall it's much easier. At top some pics and snack then towards Jezerska Kočna. Missed it cuz staring at clouds gathering and markers. After 10 min turned back up! zmeden

Then nicely progressed to Dolska Škrbina and on to Grintovec. Passed two icy patches but left crampons in pack. Unfortunately clouds from valley started gathering and views gone jezik

At top met "acquaintances from below Taška, took some pics and said something" Due to weather quickly down.

PS
At 4pm at crossroads above Suhadolnik (path over Taška and Stara pot) met 2 Hungarians! Asked if path over Taška easier, cuz couldn't make it up old path (sliding under feet no arm strength). Don't know current conditions but told them try over Taška to Cojzova koča if easier?? Strongly advised against today's goal- GRINTOVEC zmeden

Told them quite late and if couldn't do old path Taška will be hard too.
Still every day people unprepared head to mountains. jezen

Upper Dolči and Dolška Škrbina---- I'll get there too

Conditions on the old path are excellent. We really enjoyed the descent!

I think Nejc is son of one of you, and you all hiked nicely and spent super day in hills (like me) you won't forget and hope we meet again in mountains! Thanks for pic, already have it on computer (wife said "at least in one you're smiling". I know who took it, and new cooler is also in backpack.

But today afternoon I still went to Jezerska Kočna, alone. Weather towards the top really windy, practically no views. On the way back I quite searched for markers. Below 2000 m it was better and more enjoyable. On the path met group of Croats - quite slow. Hope they made it to Češka koča by night where they were to sleep. Otherwise path already fairly passable. Crossed three or four small snowfields, needing more care.

I descended today from my unfortunately failed hike to Grintovec. Yesterday my buddy and I set off from Suhadolnik towards Grintovec. Supposed to go over Kokrsko and Mlinarsko sedlo. Unfortunately a bit late so dark clouds gathered over Grintavcem, visibility almost none. So decided to overnight in bivouac which I must highly praise. Shared it with five Croats who were really nice company. At night incredible thunderstorm making it even more interesting. Plan was to continue today but weather didn't improve unfortunately, so back to Cojzova koča, then quickly to Kalško gora and quickly to valley as weather worsened fast.
Also our forecasters predicted yesterday and today morning clear sky jezen

but still super and at first next chance back to Grintovec, then hope to summit nasmeh

I hiked the whole path in the opposite direction 10 days ago and there were no major issues.

We did this tour on Thursday 11.8. We started at the cargo cableway and first went past Češka koča on Kremžarjeva pot to Jezerska Kočna. The path soon turns quite to the right from the fork, where it goes on the ridge. There is a very nice view of Jezersko there. From Dolški škrbina we soon came to the potbelly rock. This passage is very unusual; from there to the top it was not far anymore. Lots of hikers due to nice weather, on Kočna almost more than later on Grintovec, where we continued from Dolška škrbina. This path was strenuous, especially on steep scree. After rest on Grintovec back via Mlinarjevo sedlo to Češka koča and valley. The tour was strenuous but due to nice weather very scenic. Lp nasmeh

We did the tour yesterday from Kokrsko sedlo, where we slept on Grintovec and continued to Jezersko Kočna and via Kremžarjeva pot to Češka koča and further along Slovenska Transverzala to Jezersko. On this path quite a bit of caution is needed because of scree on the path (danger of slipping).
