Grintovec and Kočna

I've had your idea in my head since yesterday. I'll do it Sunday, extending over Dolgi hrbet too. Maybe we meet somewhere. If not before, at Teran in Zgornje Stranje.nasmeh

In 2017 I hiked this variant (visiting Dolgi hrbet and Skuta) and with solid fitness it's fully feasible in one day even from the valley. nasmeh

Super, thanks for answers. Just wait for vacation, then go.
One more question. Planning three days in Kam. Sav. Alps, have another tour in mind:
Ravenska Kočna - Češka koča - Žrelo - Kranjska koča na Ledinah - Ledinski vrh - Velika baba - Mala baba - Jenkova planina - Ravenska Kočna. Is this variant possible? And what's the ridge between Velika and Mala baba like. Read somewhere it's very dangerous and crumbly? Regards M.
p.s. Any other full-day circular tour around here?

I'd rather recommend going circular from the north, so mostly in shade (at least in the morning). Češka koča-Mlinarsko sedlo-Grintovec-Dolška škrbina-Kočna-Češka koča. From the parking it's a full-day tour, considered very demanding.

I in Dolška škrbina all nicely secured, marked a bit poorly, guess you strayed from marked path.

Ha ha, ADK, if I veer a bit off topic, you can hike more than just Skuta. - Rinke, Tursko goro, Brano, Planjavo, Ojstrico...

I think the path through Žrelo is closed, so you are left with Slovenska pot, which is not substantially different in difficulty.

The ridge between Babama is unprotected and quite narrow in places, so if you're not used to walking ridges, it might squeeze you somewhere.

There are plenty of all-day variants, but they depend more on starting points.

@matic, not even close. Markings are half a meter apart. Cables just aren't there.

No grade 2 on this path, but there is some very demanding terrain and fitness sections. You can easily make it a grade 2 though. velik nasmeh

Grade 2 on a marked path, interesting.

What's so interesting? Why would markings affect climbing difficulty?

Tone: good pick on those 15.
If there was a 2 there, then alpine off-trail paths actually rated 3 are all smoothly over V mežikanje

Hm... I've been there 3-4 times... but I don't quite remember that mentioned detail standing out so much from other ZZ paths around there. Actually, the most exposed to me was that little ridge from the notch towards Grintovec. All together still easier/less exposed than Dolgi Hrbet. And I even dared to lead a group over the latter as a guide (of course not beginners).

But if I compare to the start of Hudi prask, which I was taught is "strong grade 2", well... not really a fair comparison. Unless that rating was accidentally set by Franček mežikanje

The weather again dictated my plans, so I left home already the afternoon before yesterday. To avoid possible afternoon thunderstorms, I slept in the bivouac at Kočna - alone, like a king on Betajnova. At half past six I leisurely head to the scree, legs woke up only at the wall entrance, where all-day enjoyment started. Windless, proper morning freshness, and total silence lured me first to the western, little-known summit Na Križu 2484, then according to the plan I set a few days ago. The walk to the entry to Kokrška Kočna, to Jezerska Kočna, is less than half an hour. Note that the anchor pegs of the cables are pulled out in several spots, but do not hinder progress much. I linger longer on Jezerska Kočna, enjoying solitude there too and watching the Grintovec summit swarming with people. Well, my turn came too, no acquaintances up top, two pics and I continue to Mlinarsko sedlo. Brief stop on Mali Grintovec 2447, as the path goes over it. Scrambling to Dolgi hrbet was the icing on the cake in great conditions on dry rock. Marks are very faded here, but pegs and cables are excellent. The ridge continuation to Štruca drags. The descent to Veliki Podi is wrongly marked on the Grintovci map, as you do not drop from Škrbina 2408 as shown but must continue several tens of meters toward Štruca. At the top of the scree above Podi, I change to shorts on a grassy patch and dash to the bivouac under Grintovec, the sight saddened me again. Upper door destroyed, floor burnt... what scum hangs in our mountains?? Let them go to the Dolomites and wreck property there.mrk pogled
Below the bivouac (five mins) I fill water, in a good half hour I am mixed with the tourist crowd before Cojzova koča. Countless cars in Konec, road excellent, even removed the prohibition sign below...nasmeh

What's the difficulty of the path from Dolcev to Dolske Škrbine? Is it easier to go to Grintovec via Kočen or directly to Škrbina? Especially [I'm interested in the] technical difficulty compared to Triglav ascent from Kredarica – easier, harder, same. Interested in exposure, crumbly rock, any cables on the path...

From Dolcev to Dolsko Škrbino you generally go in the reverse direction. I haven't seen anyone pushing up there. If from Suhadolnik, it's really a waste not to visit Kočen too. Triglav path [is the] most secured in the country and can't [even slightly] compare with the mentioned [one]. Cables and pegs give [the] average hiker enough safety (though currently some damaged between huts), not much exposure, [it's] true Kočni (vs Grintovec) very little visited esp[ecially on] weekdays[, you] can really enjoy solitude.

If you want to [go to] Grintovec via Kočen, then you descend to Dolsko Škrbino, before which [the] path from Dolcev joins, which is easy unless to Dolcev via Grdi Graben. So not clear what interests you. Anyway you reach Škrbino.
