Martin, just to avoid confusion. TX4, Mescalito, MTN trainer etc. are not trail shoes. They are so-called "approach" shoes, full-blooded robust hiking boots and that's what we're talking about for your purpose. If you take TX4 or Mescalito with GTX membrane (depending on what you want), you'll be pretty much covered for all summer scenarios. Trail shoes, which I mentioned at the end of my post and which Lamps also talks about, are a different type of shoe. That's more like sneakers and for your purpose don't look at those. Otherwise best if admin merges this thread with turbo's link.

Yes, of course, that too. There are subtle differences between models. TX4 is supposed to be a bit more technical/climbing oriented; MTN trainer more cushioned for long tours in high mountains... But that's on paper. The main criterion is to go to the store(s), tell the seller what you need, try several variants and pick the one that fits your foot best. Don't narrow it down to a specific brand and model

Thanks really to everyone for opinions. I plan to try only to narrow the choice a bit so I don't try 100 shoes in the store. If there's any more info welcome and best regards to all.

I've been swearing by Salewa for years, they fit me, so I have low ones, different models, high summer and high winter. All models without complaints, never blistered me, super shoes

Yes that's why you go to the store and try which brand and model fits you
