Today I climbed from Planina pod Golico via Rožca to Hruški vrh.
The path is mostly dry, some snow remains only in the forest above Jeseniška planina (crossing below Klek peak towards Rožca) and on the ridge. On the northern side conditions are still fully wintery.
Pleasant trip, adorned these days by lush flowers (narcissi, snowdrops, dog's-tooth violets, crocuses...)

Tadej, if you know this hero from my photos, we definitely met today - on the path under Klek..
Otherwise, I saw no one else up there today, to fill the measure, I also saw your name in the logbook. (you messed it up a bit with the date, you wrote 7.5.09.)
So we know each other without knowing it.

Yes we did meet. The dog looked somewhat different live than in the pics, so I wasn't quite sure if it was yours.

Maybe his fur shines better in the sun than otherwise, but definitely the right one.
(always look for the best light on the subject, then click). Sometimes I fix something in the program.

Today from west side, partly along ridge (description in next days): wonderful, windless weather, no cloud, warm, simply top,top... At summit some Austrians, on Klek screes chamois race.. Short sleeves..., real autumn mountain experience.

...It's true that mountains are interesting in any weather. But that joy you feel in good weather is given only by the sun and beautiful views. H. vrh and Klek inaccessible due to fog. Shepherd on Jes. planina says four bulls are grazing these pastures this year. One particularly nasty...

Kokta, where did you start, do you have to go over Golica or is the path to Rožca lower? I went to Hruški vrh from Dovje, now I'd like to go from the other side too...Thanks

Today we found glasses on the trail below Hruški vrh. Owner can get them at the hut on Hrušenska planina. Narcissuses are slowly opening even towards the top, slopes getting whiter every day.

After reading Mirot's report on TKG I also decide for Hruški (Hruščanski) vrh & via Plavški rovt to Rogarjev rovt where I park. Road somewhat snowy in places but
no issue. On path some dry bits, rest on skis. Nice scenic path, esp. out of forest, spring temps, harder for hikers tho tracks made, esp. to Klek. From top descend & ascend to Dovška baba then ski to Austria. Shade hard crust bit powder not bad. Think of Koprivnjak but sun rotten snow so back to Hruški vrh. Descent south rocks spruces & seeking continuous snow.. Met only one tourer..

Yesterday from Sport hotel past idyllic pl. Zajavornik to Blejska koča. XC tracks on planina groomed look great..

Glad many peaks in Karavanke don't reach 2000m, so uninteresting to many hikers. Thus you can enjoy peace solitude and untouched snow here. Today I headed to Hruški vrh from Planina pod Golico. Untouched snow awaited, so soon put on snowshoes. Already below Jeseniška planina drifts, even with snowshoes sinking to knees. On planina snow blown to junction, from there again lots of windblown snow even on ridge. Unfortunately fog and wind at top, but on return wind blew fog away and lee warm. No avalanche danger on path as snow blown almost to ground, only bit more in gully at memorial plaque. Nice trip, recommend for next nice days. Lp Miro

I put on snowshoes after about 15 min walk and wore to Jeseniška planina. From there to junction on windblown without, then on feet to top and back almost to start. Above planina turned left down the gully.

Hi Miro,
I'm interested how it looks towards Klek? Is it windblown from south side too as seen from north on your 11th pic? Do you think snowshoes would work, since Klek steeper than Hruški vrh? And if yes, how would you choose; direct from Jeseniška planina or via Rožca?

No need to go over Rožca, easier directly up from the pasture to the ridge above the saddle. Behind me ski tourers have tracked this route. On the ridge there's a lot of wind-blown snow, on the steepest part of the ridge you'll probably need to remove snowshoes. Also picture of Klek slope from Jesenice pasture. Best, Miro
