Today - 5.12.2015 - I climbed Hruški Peak for the first time from Planina pod Golico. The path is well marked to Jesenice pasture, then I didn't see marks anymore and went a bit my own way. Towards the summit some snow, but no problem, so gaiters and crampons stayed in the backpack. Strong wind on top (as usual in Karavanke). Nice view of Julian Alps from the top, Austrian side in thick fog. On return met two hikers, otherwise no one else all day.

Finally. Today real winter ascent. Start at Planina pod Golico. Here about 20cm snow. After crossing forest road first time I put on snowshoes, without them probably would have turned back today. To Jesenice pasture there's ski track, which was more hindrance to me. With altitude snow depth increases. Above pasture which I zigzag up to half meter. Gully below Rožca saddle nicely filled, further snow wind-blown in places. Still kept snowshoes to the top, though last part doable without. Quite cold, so soon back same way. Met some ski tourers, only one on foot today. On return kept snowshoes to the village.

Hruščanska planina, Hruščanski vrh, Klek, nice up there. Spring offers colorful flowers of crocuses, snowdrops, dog's-tooth violets and other flowers. Hills zebra-striped, nice to see. Around shepherd hut lots of snowdrops blooming. Snow on ridge no issue, no winter gear needed. Nice and close. Prihodi and Plavški Rovt already have visitors, white princesses blooming.

Today a tour in home hills: Rovte - Jeseniška planina - Klek - Rožca - Hruški vrh - Rožca - Jeseniška planina - Rovte. Below Klek summit quite some snow, from Rožca to Hruški vrh even more. No winter gear needed, gaiters not amiss. Views so-so, weather warm.

Today start from Hrušica to Hruški vrh via Rogarjev rovt and Hruščanska planina. The trail is now marked to Hruščanska planina with yellow dots and signposts.

Yes those are Jesenice markings - similar on the path from TRILOBIT via planina Stamare to Vajnež.

Keti1... From the valley it's not visible, but in depressions and shady sides there's still snow even in May.

Thanks to both. Checked today. Really quite a bit in depressions and shady sides. On the ridge path itself also some snow patches that don't cause issues as it's soft. But today very cold wind. Still great tour.

Yesterday...Hruški vrh, Rožca saddle...It was interesting and beautiful. The sun was shining and mists were chasing. The landscape around me was revealing and covering itself. Beautiful motifs. The grass was wet and livestock was grazing. The road to Rogarjev rovta is awful. Lots of deep ditches, washed-away sand due to rain and the road is sloping in places. Lots of woolly-headed thistle blooming. Beautiful spiky arrangements.
Autumn is coming to the mountains.
